Matching a Subwoofer to my LSi9 Bookshelf Speakers

I just purchased a pair of LSi9 bookshelf speakers and have decided to add a subwoofer. I was thinking about the PSW111 or PSW125 possible options.
Please provide opinions of what might best fit my needs. I have a 125 w Harman Kardon 3490 Receiver and will be using it in a 14x14 room, mainly for smooth jazz at relatively modest volumes.

Other options are also invited. Thanks very much for your feedback!

Not sure what budget you had in mind so...

Look at the SVS SB12-NSD (it's awaiting release)

    eDesign Audio A3S-250

Since your not shooting for HT use sealed subs, will speaking in general, be more suitable to music listening.

If you want to move up the price scale there are subs like the JL Fathom out there also.

That's a pretty good deal there jinjuku!!

You should also consider the Polk MicroPro sub...on the ebay site--sit on them and wait for a good price. They're not necessarily the best HT sub for the money but they are a sublime musical sub for LSI-9s....and if you have a set of 9s; that's 'really' what you should be thinking about. Your room is not that big so the MPros can handle it fine!

I have the MicroPro 2000 that I use in a 2.1 setup in my office with my LSi9s and it does a terrific job. It's very capable and can be driven hard, yet you rarely even know it's in the room because it's so small (tiny!). Check with Polkdirect on eBay - they're now starting the MP2000 auctions out at $259 + tx + $25 s/h. Also, all the MicroPro subs, except the 1000 come in a gloss black that matches the piano gloss of the LSis perfectly.

+1 to that. I waited patiently for one and stuck to a maximum bid and was surprised one day when no one else seemed to be bidding! Got a great deal and these little subs are very musical. The MicroPRO subs would complement your LSis nicely, IMHO.

P.S. Welcome to CP kprhok AND teekay0007! :)

I second Keiko's recommendation. I know the micropro 2000 is perhaps more than what you were planning on spending on a sub, but at $429 free shipping on NewEgg, or a refurb from PolkDirect for a little less than that you are going to be way more pleased than with one of the lower-end Polk subs. Not that they are not good, just the MicroPros are in an entirely different league. With 1200wrms 2400 dynamic power they never run out of steam, and employ a quadrilateral passive radiator that takes up the entire bottom of the sub. Net effect is much more radiating surface area than just the 8 inch driver. Plenty of clean, accurate output, and matched really well with both My RTi-A3s and my new LSi-9s. It also has a microphone and DSP for automatic room correction, but I found in my setup it sounded even better without it. I run the low-pass between 60 and 80hz depending on what I am listening to. Great little sub - piano black laquered finish and really looks quality. It is surprising the output you get from this little sucker, and it is clean, clean, clean. There are many good choices from a lot of differnt companies available, but since this is the Polk forum I thought I would tell you a little bit about the MicroPro and how happy I have been with mine. The 3000 and 4000 will go even deeper and have even more output, although they use the exact same amp. I have not seen them near as heavily discounted though. For $400 brand new the 2000 is a great buy. Hope this helps, and have fun with your purchase, whatever you decide to get.

The MP2K's are nice and give a good output. If your looking for huge SPL's then the 2K would lack some, but if you want tight, fast bass then they are nice to have.
