Broken Ipod Touch Ideas

So my iPod touch has finally hit the graveyard. However, there's still parts that should work, like the screen. My idea is to turn the screen into a display device for streaming audio through my computer, or something of the like. Has anyone ever heard of this being done?

Can anyone think of any reasons this could/couldn't be done?

Never really heard of anything like that. Look on a computer hack website and mod wesite they would help a lot more.

I like to run over anything that says Apple on it with my truck. I'll be back in the Ames IA area in a couple of weeks, we could even make a video of it as a Club Polk exclusive event.

Wait, what part of the touch "died"? I've never heard of anything but the screen / touch part dying. If it's just the "touch" that's not working you can buy a replacement screen / digitizer for short money and replace it yourself.

As far as using the screen for an alternate purpose, I have no idea how you'd do that. Even if you could find the pinout for the (presumably proprietary) connector, I doubt anyone has put together any kind of driver for it on anything but the iPhone OS. So you'd have no way to use said display. It's not like it has a VGA input :)
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

That seems like a waste of an awful lot of fruit.

Haha. Maybe we could shoot some .22 rounds through it too.

Long story short, it got some water on it and the wi-fi died. Then later, after it worked for awhile, the battery would no longer charge. It would just overheat. The screen still works, but basically it's just spare parts now.
