And you make $6.75/hr.I work by myself because others say I don't play well with others and eat paste. I hate people.DARE TO SOAR:

WRONG! 2 locations therefore = 2 x 6.75, right? Oh, don,t forget commisions x 2
Is this the main reason for hiding in the BUSHES :D
Be there in about 16 hours. -
Thanks guys.
I will try out the question on question approach. Also, I will go in today and thanks him for the interview, and tell him I look forward to being apart of his team. That way I show confidence, and gratitude for the time he has offered to me.Receiver

But if the tom hopkins book is the book to go.
It is fairly cheap as well, to my surprise. Perhaps the bookstore will have it.
Thanks again.
All good. I'll try and shoot him an email when I'm on my lunch today. The only thing is I'm not sure what he's up to this summer as he tends to travel a lot back and forth between WI and CA as he had a real estate company out there that he ran, so it might take a week or so for me to get a response back. I know I had the list in my papers from the class, however where those ended up after I graduated I have no ideaI work by myself because others say I don't play well with others and eat paste. I read that as I eat people and hate paste...already a long day and I'm here for a lot longer today lol. -
Went in to thank him, he wasn't there will try again tomorrow.
I'm starting to get anxious...

Careful on that question with a question thing.
Some people get upset over it, especially if they experience it negatively from someone else in their life. Typically the middle to upper middle class get upset on that one.

This is a valid point - but the only time this can be taken the wrong way is when someone sounds like an **** with their question. Which alot of pushy, desperate salesman give off that vibe.
Do you have a DVD player? DO You neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed a DVD player?
I mean cmon - of course someones gonna be pissed.
If you had asked - Ah, what are you guys looking to plug the DVD player up to? Thats a fairly simple question and it gets you to know a little more about their setup. And you can then follow up with "Oh, judging by your TV I guess you guys are looking for a higher quality image and sound?" (Who will say no to that?) "Yes" "Oh, well have you guys ever heard of Blu Ray?" "No" "Really, wow - well it is a disc just like DVD and blah blah blah
Questions should have meaning and ultimately lead you back to closing the deal.
I like to ask questions I can reiterate -- so if at the end of the sale if they kind of are basking on what to do...
"You like the way it feels yes?" "yes" "You like the way it looks, yes?" "yes" "you like the way it sounds, yes?" "yes"
Get em to say alot of yeses, you can pretty much pick the item up and take it to the counter and start asking for info.
I have done that on several ocassions.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Yup.
Sometimes people want **** that doesnt even do what they want it to do. If you dont ask the questions and sell them the **** they want but doesnt do what it is supposed to. You just went from a salesman to an ****.
On the flip side if you ask questions, you then can become the guy they always want to talk to because you have their interest at hand!
Incredible.
Treat sales the way you want to be treated when you walk in a store and you should be fine.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Also - when you suggest product have a plan and stick to it -- and never offer to many options...
TO many options = thinking, thinking = gotta think about it
Someone is looking for a TV, ask questions that peg you to two TVs - never a third one. That third one = thinking.
Another tip I can give you is some people cant think for themselves. Sometimes when they have to think they want to ask someone if it is a good deal. How about at that moment in time you confidently tell them "This is a great deal!"
You might be surprised what that does.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Do not want to go off topic but Vr3MxStyler2k3, do you deal much with operation managers and if so, have you ever noticed their antagonism toward good salemens? A good salesmen generate $$$$ for the company but at the same time generates work at all level and it seems like operation managers hate you for doing so
From what I understand you are in home electronics sale, am I right? If so, what are your comments? I was thinking of potentially moving that route but was afraid of downgrading in both pay and challenge... any comments?DARE TO SOAR:
Your attitude, almost always determine your altitude in life -
haha - I sell musical instruments - so things are a little different. Unfortunately I do not have any experience working with an operational manager. My main job at the moment is not sales, but to make sure staffs at both stores are prepped and ready - each store has products and special orders are handled in a timely manner.
I sale in my spare time and sometimes still end up top salesman ( I keed I keed)- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I've bought a lot of stuff from Sears, but not one salesman there has ever sold me anything. Ever.

Agreed!!! I go to SEARS for Tools and that is about it.. -
Yeah, I find it that way as well. I go into sears and I already now what I want...of course I am very strong willed, and take forever to make a choice if it involves me buying something. So they usually don't bother swinging around.
So from what I have read.

We have to sell at least 75% protection plans.Receiver

We have to sell at least 75% protection plans.
BTW, if I was forced to sell protection-extended warranty I would more likely fail my employersince as I mentioned I don't sell fridges to Eskimos. I strongly feel you have to believe in what you sell (thus passion generating). This question answers my tought about selling in store, that aspect would make me a poor candidate for any large chain store (except maybe COSTCO??? I believe they don't push protection, right. but their electronics usually s%^&s).DARE TO SOAR:
