Hi guys,
I am having problems with volume consitancy issues. I am wondering if it is something i am doing becauseI have had this problem with my previous receiver which was a jvc(i was useing prologic) rca cables insted of optical audio.
My problem is when i use my blu-ray player for blurays the sound(especially voices) are extremely quiet. I am having to turn the reciever up to about -17 -19 to hear the dialog, while the soundeffects are a little overwhelming; however when i put in a audio cd in the bluray it is rich and full bodied sound at -45 to -40. It is a little confusing to me why there is such and inconsitancy with the same componant. I am running an optical audio cable from the blu ray to the avr. I am wondering if i could dammage the speakers i have by turning it up so loud, because if i put the reciver at the -17 to -19 range when i am useing the audio cd it would be almose unbearabel. Correct me if i am wrong, but the same amount of power is going to the speakers weather or not the volume is loud.
My xbox360 is on another optical audio imput and is consistant, except with some movies.
I have tsi100's and a csi3 cc. I also have a pair of rti a5's in the mail so i really dont want to screw them up.
On a side note the a5's are referbs from polk (wish me luck) I hope they are not in dinged up shape....
Any help would be great.

Alright, I have set up the avr and set the speaker sizes. The reciever has a (autoprogram) SPL where you turn the reciever to -15 and the mic on the remote adjusts the sound levels and ballance. This helped quite a bit, but the same problem is still there it is just quite a bit better. any tips, maby a little more adjustment?? From the reviews of the avr i have heard that it does a pretty good job of auto adjustment.Harman kardon signature 2.1 amp
