adcom gfa 535 with static issues in volume control knobis available with gfa 400 preamp klipsch 10 in. woofer and infinity bookshelves for 100 clams. does the static issue sound like somethin tough to fix, also would the pre be worth that alone.

Difficult to actually say, but if the static is occuring as the volume is activly being changed cleaning the volume control with DeOxit could eliminate the problem. The problem would actually be in the Adcom gfa 400 since it is the preamp with the volume attenuator. The entire package for 100.00 ?

That adcom pre...is not one of the preferred Adcom pres...(GFP-715 or GFP-750) so depends on if the bookshelves and sub are OK.....

Doctor R may be VERY right, though,...get some DeOx...and have at the pre control knobs, etc.

Good point GD...do you have something ELSE you could plug the Adcom GFA-535 into..that's definitely worth a 100 if it's working properly...the pre...probably needs some Deoxit or a bit of professional attention. But if the amp is OK you're good.

If man made it, it can be fixed.

adcom gfa 400 volume knob static, if it is beyond deoxit, is this something that is available for replacement or repair. i could get it cheap so it could be worth it.

i posted again before seeing the last two replys thank you. i have always wanted separates but budget on fixed income, you know. i think when the seller responds i will pull the trigger, keep your fingers crossed for me please. the ad was placed yesterday so maybe its still available. god bless our troops. if i get this gear i will be donating my yammy receiver to the vfw for a returning combat troop who would like a home theater, maybe some excess speakers too. not much but it could be a big deal to someone who has given so much to us.

if the adcom you are speaking of is in Atlanta--I'd contact the seller and get on over there,,the amp is worth the 100 bucks--good luck--let us know how it turns out.
