project 86

Inspired by Ron-P I thought I would share a little remodel that we started 86 days before my daughters graduation, hence the project 86 moniker. Although my daughter had other names for it, we got pretty darn close to finishing. We are just short the island and the countertops and some misc. trim. One cool note, when we ripped up the white carpeting we found fir flooring original to the house (120 yrs old). We were told by the previous owners that it was just junk wood but by refinishing it it has become one of the best features of the new room.
The best part of the remodel, total labor cost to date $350. The benefits of good friends and working in the trades. The only labor cost was $150 to the plaster guy and $200 to the floor ref.
Pic #1- The demo and engineering crew headed by by my 12 yr. old Josh
Pic #2,3 Where we started. After two years of asking all my friends my wife finally got the right crew drunk enough and full of enough steak to agree to tear this out.
Pic #4,5 Where we are now. A island with a curved granite countertop ( to match the floor radius) will go where the table is and new countertops and backsplash are still needed in the kitchen
Whatdya think?

Looks like it was really just a little project.
I'm not sure what the problem might be. Are you sure you're uploading a full-size image? -
