nephew moving away

About 4 years ago my wifes sister adopted a boy. Her and her husband couldn't have kids on their own so they adopted. I thought they were nuts, but they pulled it off and I was now an uncle. Well, over the last few years I've grown quite attached to Antonio. I took him on his first fishing trip last summer and we had a ball, he's an awesome kid. The first time he called me uncle Dan melted my heart. So anyway, wifes sisters husband couldn't keep a good job here in Ohio. I guess he found a really good job down in key west and thats where they are moving to on Monday. KEY WEST ?!! Are you fooking crazy ?!! What kind of schools are down there? What kind of environment is that going to be for a 4 year old? I've got to say goodbye to him tomorrow and I don't know how I'm going to do it without bursting into tears. Guess I'm just venting here, this is really tearing me up

I guess the good part is a job in Key West,,,you'll need to visit quite often. ;)Just let the little guy know how you feel and keep in touch with him--good luck.

At least they didn't get work on the Vegas strip.

thanks for the advice and well wishes fellas, going up to wall-mart now to get him a going away present. this is really hard, I'm gonna be a wreck tomorrow

+1 Think of the fishing trips you can have with him in the Keys! It could turn into something he looks forward to and provide memories he (and you) will have for ever.

+1 Things are tough and your brother in-law is doing what needs to be done to provide the best for his family. I think in this case it's ok to shed a tear or two. It will help reinforce Antonio's knowledge that you love him too.

Hang in there and focus on the good side of this.

Key West is unGodly hot! I guess Antonio is going to have a real nice tan year round. Don't worry Dan he knows you love him and that ache in your heart will turn to just missing him. Besides, you get to go to Key West from time to time.

Key West is going to be great. I live in the South and couldn't imagine a winter where I couldn't wear shorts. Start planning your vacations!

Hey remember too you can always stay in touch with him over the the net with webcams on yahoo, msn and skype:) I know it's not quite the same but at least you get to see him and talk with him in between visits;)

this is true. I'm scared to death of flying but for the boy I'll do it

+10! Get a web cam & Skype so that you can have face to face chats once a week until you can go down to visit. Send little gifts so that he knows you still think of him & love him.
