The rocket scientist selling them said he'd require full shipping of $14.20 each if I bought all four......that's $56.80........just for shipping ! He indicated that any $$ in excess of actual costs would be refunded.......Uh Huh, Sure it will. I in turn indicated that they wouldn't be sold to me., not in this lifetime.

$9 apiece for shipping is more then fair if buying all 4.. It will not cost more then that to ship all 4 drivers..$36.00

I have shipped amps that weigh more then the 4 drivers combined between $40-$50

Why not pack them weigh them and do a quote???

That is precisely what I asked him to do, he would not budge. Even if one used four separate, fixed rate, USPS boxes, the most it would be is something like $44.00. Anyone with that many ebay transactions should have a DAMN GOOD idea what shipping would cost........at this point as a seller.

Yes. It came to $26.50 each speaker. Seemed a fair price since they are getting
harder to find. Now for some 6511's.

The only concern I have with the purchase is the method of shipment, USPS.
The USPS has a habit of loosing things with no recourse.

I would be willing to pay extra for better packing and shipping with FedEx.

That was a good deal from one Polkie to another even if it was through Ebay. The original 6510s are hard to come by.

You obviously havent shipped many drivers lately. If you used a single medium sized Priority mail flat rate box for each speaker which IMHO is the best way to go, less chance of them smacking into each other that is $10.70 now add $2.00 for large bubble wrap for each driver and some sheet foam for the bottom sides and top at another $2.00 or so your at $14.70 for supplys and actual cost of shipping and that doesnt add in tape to hold everything together or the time to properly pack these or the gas to drive to the post office or the time spent waiting in line. Believe it or not the seller actually lost money if he packed these right and shipped them for $11.50 each.

When things arrived damaged people cry and whine but dont want to pay for proper supplys go figure huh?

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I'll guess that I've had somewhere near ninety MW65** drivers shipped to me in the last two years, some operable, some not. Never has the cost even approached $56.80 for four, not even from CA. Just cuz everthing has to go to AK. by packmule........... BTW I'd have glady bought them if they were $10.00 more per driver but, with a reasonable shipping fee. Quirky, huh !:)

I look at it this way I would pay the seller more for shipping and a good price on eBay. Why?? Well more money goes into the sellers pocket then eBay, and I'm all for that.

There are times I have purchased items from members here, and sent the payment as a gift so there are no paypal fees.

Perhaps you would care to explain to me how you could ship them cheaper safely even in the same state? USPS priority flat rate boxes are the same cost irregardless of where you ship to or from.

    http://www.usps.com/prices/priority-mail-prices.htm

I suppose you could most likely throw all 4 in a single box with some packing peanuts and call it good but the odds of survival go way down, If there broken when they arrive it really doesnt matter what you paid for shipping and if their packed improperly insurance wont pay.

Pack mule? The last 4 drivers I sent went to maine from alaska this way and they arrived 3 days later :)

It seems obvious to me that your a buyer not a seller. Take a minute and look at it from the sellers point of view.

If you sell them on Ebay your responsible for their safe arrival, if they arrive damaged and improperly packed he wont get reimbursed for insurance so he's out the drivers and the money has to be reimbursed to the buyer and he most likely gets a negative for his efforts.

If he sells on this forum and it gets damaged he's labeled a piss poor packer and no one wants to buy from him so he loses.

I wouldndt have sold them for less than $30.00 apiece and charged $15.00 apiece for shipping so I guess I would really be a thief huh :p

They are Sold. Neskahi I will pack them well. I am more than aware of the possible damage , IE magnets getting dislodged is one.

Thanks F1nut, SNOW and TOOLFORLIFEFAN for your comments.

Shipping was based on weight and zip code rather than flat rate box hence the shipping difference. Either way I will do Right on this, Pack to survive is my motto. Neskahi I'll ship a different method if you want.
I have nearly 3,000 transactions on ebay as seller and buyer and don't believe in cheap news paper as packing or peanuts will stop and 80 pound item from banging threw a reused box.
The Drama of it all is mind numbing to me, that shipping becomes such a hot topic. Hey maybe a new reality Show?

Each time I come here to post something I find somebody else has already brought the subject up and solved it. I give a big thanks to F1nut and others who weigh in with there vast knowledge on SDA and other Polk topics.

    Thanks

I have not bought a lot of stuff on line that required shipping. However, the few things I have bought, I've noticed a real difference in packaging. On the good side, I bought a CD from F1 nut and it was packed to survive a Neutron bomb! I did appreciate the care that was taken, shows me that the "piece" was well taken care of if the packaging was that nice. On the bad side, a power conditioner arrived looking like it went through WWII.
