RTi6 or FXi for rears?
Any suggestions folks?
I'll be running RTi12s for front L/R with CSi5 and PSW505.

Either will work. FXi's are nice for dipole, but not necessary.

I own the FXi 4's and also the RTi A3's and I really like the FX's in the back for movies and multi-channel music. I found that the RTi A3's were too direct and not as "open air" sounding as the FXi 4's. Now that sound may not be for everyone!
I am running RTI A7's are fronts and the RTi A3's are in the box again until I run a 7.1 setup.
Room setup and ears will play a big part in what you end up with I bought the RTi A3's to try as surrounds, as some people stated that they would sound better then the FXi 4's with multichannel music. To me they did not sound better because my rear sound stage got smaller and very directional. I had lost that airy feeling in the back and that is what I liked about the FX's.
Good luck with your choices -
I would say go with the FXi, I personally prefer the airy sound. It is your choice, play around with it.

the fxi have a huge sweetspot and are the best value surrounds out there i think
I did like the rti6 for sides and fxi for rear even though alot of folks here like the fxi for sides -

I would probably agree with you and run my 7.1 like you have mentioned.
Note: about my post a few above this one. Sorry for the run on sentances and lack of punctuation. Did some changes in it and did not proof read! Something like a Evelyn Woodhead speed reading course! -
Thanks all!

For 7.1 I put my FXis on the sides and my RTi bookshelves in the back. I think you could go either way, depending on room layout and available places to place speakers. For 5.1, I think the FXis offer the most flexibility. They also offer the widest dispersion, so I think they're ideal for the job. Btw, most movies I watch are in 5.1, so my backs don't even get used and the FXis do a fantastic job on their own.
