I think I saw that one on that new site Videogon. I remeber it being expensive, but not 17,000.

Hell, the guy has a pair of SiD's (or is is it mX-1?) X-1's in his theater too, along with some Mark Levinson 33H monoblock's.
I would like to see the rest of his house (And his driveway...:D)
Lucky bastage.

Agreed. The Master Reference costs almost $30 large new.
SVS confirms the $4,000 B4-Plus package (with amp and PEQ) crushes it in all respects.

That is way way to much money to spend IMO. If SVS is available at way more than half the price, and the performance is better....shite, he just plum nuttyCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

He's just trying to recoup at least part of his dumb **** purchase.
From the SVS website on the B4-Plus:
"There really are no subs that compete. Not 15" subs, not 18" subs, not anything designed for the home market. In fact, we know $25,000 subwoofers that should be afraid right now."
Truth be told they know exactly the capabilities of the Krell MR, and this is the sub they are referring to.
Here's the link:
http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_b4_plus.htm
Marketing hype aside, and to be bluntly honest, the $2,500 passive Acoustic Visions Everest with twin 15" Tumult drivers and 4 18" passive radiators will give the $2,500 passive B4+ a run for the money. If a true head-to-head shoot-out ever occurs, it will be very interesting. Both subs are capable of 130+ dB in an average size room. In fact, a B4+ owner just the other night hit 129 dB (with the RS meter, probably more like 134 actual) on The Matrix and almost busted a chandelier.
Unfortunately for Adire and Acoustic Visions, the Tumult driver has had all sorts of QA/QC problems and pre-orders were delayed for nearly a year in some cases.
I have all the respect for Adire woofers, but I wouldn't buy a Tumult driver right now if you paid me - even new ones shipping now are still having VC problems and making amps go into protect mode.

I wasn't referring to the gear the guy has (Haven't heard any of it, so I don't know what I am / am not missing) but he obviously has a little money, that's what I meant
Mike -
Thos Sid X-1's kick serious ****$, I could EASILY believe it was one of the best if not the best speaker in the world. Although, he is running is off one of the smaller Mark Levingston amps. So I dunno about that. 300 watts didnt seem enough.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I understand, I just wouldn't pay the price for anything in that room. It's amazing how 'hi-end' has changed.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -

Sid, go listen to some entry-mid level Jm Lab, they use Focal drivers too (Focal owns Jm Lab). Save you a ton of cash, over the over-rated, over-priced Wilsons.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
I never said id buy them.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Ok Sid, let me re-phrase.
Since you seemed to enjoy their sound so much, it's not as far out of reach as it may seem. Check out the JM Lab Chorus line, and find a very similar inverted dome that carries close to the same tonal signature as the much more costly Wilsons.
Shelf models start about $450 for a pair, and go up from there.

actuley the tulument vc are also not handleing the power nessary to get the sub to x max without burning out.
my sub will kick but and at olny around 1k it is badd a$$ it will not go 130db but it will do 120+ easley i will never need a better sub agin. after you hit a certan point it is just overkill.
i would also go for a svs box xub with dual 12 if i dident buld my sub. -

True, Bryan. The Tumult VC's are square wired and double wound and need to be constructed with perfect alignment in order to work properly and Adire has simply had all sorts of problems with the particular VC build vendor. They used to use a different VC supplier with no problems, but this current one is bad hoo-doo.
Yes, the PB2+ is a screamin' deal for $1,200. Ultra high tech cabinet and finish, twin dB-12 drivers, 900 watts continuous, and three 4" wide flared vents.

Did that scratch an itch, tour?
In case you were wondering, the B4+ needs about 1,800 watts minimum into 4 ohms to reach its true potential.
FWIW, if you are into finishing, you can buy a B4+ unfinished for $2000 and save 5 bones.
