Yes I know this might be a long shot but need to give it a post....looking for a home for a 125# AKC GSD. Very well trained, gentle around all in the public from babies on up, yet very protective of his home and yard. Up to date on all shots and in great health. Family who was going to take him has suffered a tragic accident lost a family member and can not take him at this time which really leaves me in a bind as I can not bring him with us. Sluggo is located in the Mpls area and can be delivered between Mpls and Charlotte NC area. The rescues here are all full so none can take him in at this time. Has been in our family for 7 years and never a problem, very smart and lets ya know when he has to go outside. Very gentle with kids. He is driven to please so is very very east to train. If anyone needs more info or is interested please contact me thru PM

Thanks

    Canine Good Citizen Certified ?

    We can take him.
We have an old female Rott (Ella Menope Stay) and an old yellow lab (George W. Bailey), 12 an 8, and both are well with strange dogs, as we have sheltered another stray in need, a bassett (DaisyDuke), we eventually found a home for(college girl in Columbia).
PM a good get together time and place if you still need.
    We live in Rock Hill.

I would take him if I didn't have a male allready. Did one of you guys grab him?

GSD's are frickin' amazing. The place where I grab my dog food from has a retired police GSD that just walks around. A tad bit intimitating at first, but then he'll roll over for a tummy scratch. Most police dept. will put them down when they get old as drug sniffing dogs aren't exactly ideal for home or family. The owner of the shop managed to talk them into giving the dog to him as he knew the dog from frequent trips to his store. The only requirement the police asked of him was to learn Polish,as the dog only understood commands in Polish. The owner complied and offered me a demonstration. He told me to take the dog in back, he then opened the front door of the shop and whipped a quarter out into about a half acre of lawn. He then called for me to bring the dog up and gave him a command in polish. That friggin dog opened the door and sniffed out that quarter in about 10 seconds. Needless to say my jaw hit the ground as I realized what these dogs are capable of is just amazing.Someone grab this beautifull boy!!

I forgot to mention we had Daisy ( I called her Dazey ) for 2 years.

Also, this may work out rather well as Ella is having health issues and her time is short.

While at first initially saddened, it does sound like you have weighed Sluggo's options and gave him the best opportunities in his life. Job well done.

Thanks for the consideration, not only to us, but to Sluggo most of all.

Believe me it was one of the hardest things I have had to do in as long as I can remember.....he was my furry kid for the past 7 years giving me unconditional love every day he was with me....still brings me to tears.....but in the end I feel hes found a fantastic home with canine buddies and a great guy who will give him a great home for his senior years....

KellyFan your probably quite close to where I live on Lake Wylie will look ya up when
I get back from my final move for a cold one at T Bones on the lake ;)
