Sound difference in monitor 70's

Hello everyone,

I purchased 2 70's and 2 60's (that arrive tomorrow)from newegg. I have an onkyo receiver that is 130w per channel (and a sub) and I am using 16guage speaker wire.

My question is... I immediately noticed that the right monitor 70 sounded different than the left while using Audessey to set up. Once I had the system set up I put in my first cd and began to listen to music.

The left speaker sounds amazing! It is crystal clear, full sounding and the only way to describe it is silky, smooth. As I feared, when I listen to the right speaker it just does not sound as good. It seems a brassier/louder and the highs are just not as crisp and it is missing that full, silky smooth balanced sound.

Could this be a defective tweeter?

I read a post that said that the jumpers may loose and not making contact, so I tried to check that last night but I do not think that is the problem. I can also change the tweeters between the 2 to see if there is a difference in sound but I really do not want to start pulling them apart.

Does anyone have other suggestions or thoughts about this? Any help is appreciated.

Newegg is oos on any additional 70's and my only option is to return for a refund. Would polk warrany/customer service send me another tweeter without having to send in the entire speaker?

I am so disappointed because I can tell how great these speakers are.

No need to pull them apart. Just switch the left speaker with the right speaker, and see if the problem changes sides. If not, you have a problem with the receiver. If it does change sides, it could be the tweeter, or the crossover, and at that point I would swap tweeters, to rule out the crossover.

If it is the tweeter, polk will swap them out without sending the whole speaker.
