I have recently had my cd collection stolen by a friend...I let him borrow them for a road trip and he sold them for money to buy something that he wouldn't tell me about.

Friend or not that is a lot of CD's for a road trip.

CDR's? IPod? That many CD's would have never left my house..as said above take it out of his ****..

Depends on which one it is. Some Iron maiden cds cost more than others...
If you can find it let me know which on it is...I have copies of some cds but I didn't think it would fun for me to list all that I do have copies of...

As for my friend...well, he has what is coming to him very soon. I knew that he was proposing to his wife this evening so I sent the cops to his house and let them know what he did. I also told his ex girlfriends about it and they don't really like him that much so I figured by the time he settles the matter with the ex girlfriends the cops should be showing up any time. He's not going to have a great evening.
Plus...its raining like crazy right now with lots of lightning....blech

Man, your life is a soap opera... Why in the world hadn't you ripped all your CDs to a computer or something? My kids immediately rip every CD they get and then completely forget about the "hard copy." Heck, virtually every CD that comes across my hands gets ripped.

I had the majority of them copied but I had switched over computers and was to lazy to think about it. We had been friends for years and never had issues...until now.
It turns out what I did worked well, he's going to jail for a few days for theft, and his soon to be wife is really upset about it. I guess he used the money to help buy the ring he used to propose to her. I just got done talking to her about it.

Treatment sometimes leave a slight cloudy residue on playback surface that doesn't affect readability.

Yes, definitely burn your next ones to more than one hard drive.
I have my collection on 3 hard drives. ( 2 computers and 1 external )
Then I burn either DVD's or CD's, depending where I am playing them.
If it wasn't illegal, I wouldn't mind at all giving you copies of some of what you have listed.
I too am showing age, and only have Ozzy, Metallica, ZZ Top and AC/DC.
But, all in all, my collection ( and the wife's ) are 125 GB of audio, and video concerts add another 30 GB.
Why I backed up, besides scratches on originals, was merely locating a disc.
Now, it is merely a keyword typed in.

I had that luck with my automotive tool collection and am on my 3rd and hopefully final set up. ( Vegas 1st loss - plane ticket home - shhh / theft second loss )
Audio collection, I am on my second. ( theft first loss )

Yeah, it is kind of illegal if you sell them to me. Would suck if you got caught too....not sure if it is if you give them though...I do not know about that. I know I have given copies of cds to friends before...maybe I broke the law who knows?
