Just overheard the following over the cubicle wall....

I overheard one of the supervisors mentioned Stevie Wonder to a coworker sitting in the next cubicle. Then.....silence. I don't think the name "Stevie Wonder" registered with my coworker at all.

Gawd, I feel old

Pffft, I was wearing a Ringo Starr concert hat, and a younger female coworker asked me "Who's that?"
So, I guess that means I'm older than you?

I wear my "Electric Mayhem - World Tour '79" shirt and people ask me "Who's Electric Mayhem"?

I don't feel so much old as I do odd.

Most kids these days just don't have the same enthusiasm for music.... especially when it comes to branching out and discovering the classics. Stevie Wonder has one of the smoothest voices ever. Oh, I'm 25.

With the mp3 as young people source of choice (and a poor one it is) it is no wonder most don't have the same enthusiams for music. Hard to feel the music when it sounds flat and cold. It sure is convenient though....

You want to feel old? Go see an "old" band now.

I went to a ZZ Top concert when I was in 3rd grade (and I still remember the whole thing, I was enthralled..Eliminator Tour) and I was surrounded by 35-45 year-olds in leather that rode to the show on their Harleys.......

........then a year or so ago I saw them again in concert....now I was surrounded by 50-60 year-olds...still in leathers....but about 50% of which had canes/crutches/walkers/knee or back braces from age and/or motorcycle incidents. Time is not being kind to good ol' rock n' roll fans.

P.S. God help me in Sept...I'm planning to go see Rush.

I love it when the kids can't figure out how I know the words to one of their "new" songs by a current band. I think the last good one I shocked them with was a remake of the Guess Who's American Woman by some semi-rapper wannabe. There's another remake/remix of a Rare Earth song that came out a while ago. With MP3's there's no album or CD cover to read and see who actually wrote the songs.

HI - I always thought most of Stevie Wonder's LP's were mixed so they sounded a little hard edged because they were focused on radio play. I thought I heard that Hoffman or someone else was currently remastering his works to release on CD/LP.

Stevie Wonder's "Talking Book" has been released on 24K gold CD. I've already got it but haven't open it yet.

The wannabe sounds like Lenny Kravitz. Song title - american woman. Riff - american woman.

There's too many to count. I'm 27 and know that about half of the really good tunes I like are basically covers.
