....after my dog died after 17 years......I decided to befriend the wild life in the city. No heart breaks. Live and let live. Now on the 4th generation of raccoons. The 5th generation is in my wood burning stove...attached to my fireplace. Can hear the "youngens" in the late night hours.

Live 5 blocks from a Metro stop. Have 8 city blocks of open space ...owned by the Franciscan Monastery....behind my house. The youngsters always seem to get along. Fox, feral cat, raccoon and opossum. The feral cat has been the biggest challenge. Had to teach him to "Meow"....only knew how to "Hiss".

Ain't life a "HOOT"!!

    Your neighbors must hate you.

...on the contrary. In the 30 odd years of being in the neighborhood....never saw a rat. Never had a garbage can over turned. Of course , when my pup was alive....never saw any wildlife. I had a mountain house in W.Va. and didn't see anything but deer. About a month ago....saw a herd of deer...about 7....on the Monastery grounds. How they got there amazes me. Must have followed the Metro tracks from green space to green space. Live and let live.

GREAT pic. Is there a story that goes with it???

I am retired and had hopes to move to my mountain home....but finances hindered that thought. Also medical cost for pets in the big city are astronomical. Better to befriend the "ORIGINAL" inhabitants. And let it "BE"!!

My friends spent over $10 grand to prolong the life of their pup for a year.....and not a GOOD year.

If you simmer racoon haunches very low and slow and season them properly they make a great stew.:D

...In the "BIG PICTURE"....we are only temporarily on the top of the food chain. And besides that....they are a "Blast" to watch.

    Ciao Hear...

Didn't take you seriously. How could anyone "Diss" a Polkie. I love that they have the "Bandit" mask. I trust them more....because they are upfront.....unlike "humans" that are SO "hardssss" to read.

...."Have you thanked doG today" ....for all GOOD things.

...Wished I was still a monkey!!!!! ...and could evolve all over again....Those 1st experiences of hearing Polk SDA's. Not to forget the first "CHEEseburger" etc.

...LIFE is GOOD after 60 !!!!! .....but was a "HELL" of a lot better in our 20's!!!!
