Anyone have the Harman Kardon AVR 354?

I'm gonna post this knowing full well there's probably not a fix and that I have a bad unit.
I just picked one of these up at Fry's open box. I got it home and it doesn't work. Everything lights up, but no sound and no control of front panel buttons. I was able to reset the unit by holding down the OK button from standby and I get the reset message, but that's the best I've been able to get it to do.
I'm able to change sources via the remote, but again no real functionality. I was wondering if there was some sort of store demo mode, but I'm not sure how to disable it, or if it even exists.
I'm likely grasping at straws, but figured I'd give it one go here on the forum before I return it to Fry's and start looking at other models.
