Recently purchased a Monitor 70's off newegg at a price I couldn't refuse. Toss up between the Polks, Onkyo, Klipsch, and Polk won :)

Looking for a CS2 at a decent price, any places I should be looking at considering Newegg is sold out :(

Polkdirect on eBay usually sells refurbished items. If you don't mind buying fixed items straight from the company that sells/makes them, they usually have great deals. I've considered buying from them a few times.

Hmm never considered getting a refurb item.

Anyone have any experiance with them? IE: worth getting over new?

"User" polkdirect on Ebay is Polk's direct outlet for refurbed units. Some people can't tell the difference between these and new. There may be minor cosmetic imperfections. Polk is a one of a dieing breed of companies that really cares about customer service and quality. You should have no worries about buying refurbed from Polk. I think the only real difference is that the warranty period on refurbed units is less than a "new" one. IIRC, it's 1 year instead of 5.

I bet you could buy a monitor 70 from Polkdirect, set them side by side with your current 70s, and you'd never know the difference.

Welcome to CP cpltk2 (hey, I was once a corporal (cp) in the Canadian Forces and now I am a TK). Now, that I know of Polk eBay store is not only about refurbished. Comments from many of the people her that bought refub from Polk reported that they epected they were open box rather than refurbed as they looked as new. You also get the same outstanding customer service from Polk if you buy from their eBay store. Not counting substantial savings

I have bought 2 pairs of speakers of Polk direct. Except for fedex damaging one of the woofers in the second pair they are all absolutely flawless. Which by the way, Polk sent me a new driver for free within a few days...they have great customer service, so bid with confidence and enjoy your new speakers:D

You can call Polk direct and ask them if they have the refurb speaker you are looking for and buy it straight from them. I say forget eBay if you can...

    Hi cpltk2,

Welcome to Club Polk! My wife and I routinely buy items through e-Bay with rarely a snag, if that gives you any confidence. I have found Polk speakers on e-Bay, although if I had the choice I would prefer to use the Polk e-Bay store.

FWIW, I am enjoying the "synergy" that exists between my M70s and the CS2! No regrets regarding any of my equipment choices. The folks here at the "Club" gave me alot of good advice, and I'm confident that you will feel the same.

    Best Wishes,

    Pappy

Why pay MSRP? MSRPs are inflated prices IMHO. Polk ebay store is a much better bang for the buck when considering the same quality products and outstanding service.

I dream of having 2000 posts, one day.

To the OP. Did you take advantage of the Newegg $20 off each speaker? I want a pair now.

I just decided to go with Polk CS2 refurb unit from Ebay.
Heard good enough reviews about them so I don't mind.

I also went and purchased Polk Audio PSW505 from newegg.... $255 shipped for a the subwoofer, I couldn't resist.

Big toss up between the Polk vs. Elemental Designs vs. Subwoofer build kit from parts express...but for $250, the tightwad in me won.
