Anyone hear about rt3000 problems?

I'm looking to upgrade and was wondering about the RT3000's. Except for audioreview.com, I have no way of finding out how they sound. And since they're not on the market anymore, my ears won't be able to help me either. So how about some input.
1. Has anyone out there heard them and are they worth purchasing?
My system consists of:
Yamaha RX-V1 receiver
Pioneer Elite DV 45A Dvd Audio/SACD Player
Yamaha EQ 550 equilizer
Polk PSW 650 subwoofer
Old old Polk Monitor 7b speakers.
2. Do you think the RX-V1 will be strong enough to power the RT3000's?
And last but not least, my friend purchased a pair of RT1000's from The Wiz (last year). He connected them and they sounded like crap. No presence, mids were weak and sloppy and the bass was sloppy as well. His Polk 11t's blew it away. We're pretty sure the cross-overs were improperly made or set up, but he was able to return them. If I buy from Ebay, I don't have that option.
3. Any suggestions regarding purchasing from Ebay? I was one of those unlucky "winners" of the PSW 650's and got s screwed for a bundle. That's not going to happen again, if I can help it.

I've got a friend with a pair of the 3000's on his Yamaha RXV3300 and it sounds good. You should be fine with the V1.

have a pair of rt3000p's for close to 5 years and running them with the sony da2es with no problems, you only need to power the satellites, the dual 300w subs are loud and go deep. i just sold my other pair that i was running in another room. do want to upgrade soon to the new DT BP7000 with the claimed 11hz from the 14" subs. if you find a deal there is no better speaker under 2K a pair!

I have a pair I use with the CS1000 across the front. I use a Denon 4802 and find the sound very adequate for HT and my untrained music senses. I used to have RT2000i's for fronts, (now rears for music) and am very happy. I agree that they're hard to beat for under $2G, although the forum yelled that I could have gone with LSi15's for the same $. Good luck. Rick:)The Revolution will not be televised.
