Laptop SSD question

Ok, so I just ordered Win7 to upgrade my 2~3 year old HP laptop from Vista. I'm also considering swapping out the hard drive for an SSD. Is it worth it? I don't want to spend a ton of coin. Thinking $100-150 at most. I don't need a lot of space and I won't be installing a lot of programs on this machine. I mainly use it with NoMachine to log on to work, and run MS Office.
Waste of money or worthwhile? I know Win7 is good for SSD, but what about hardward support? Are there new motherboard/system features that my laptop won't have to get the most out of the SSD? Any recommendations for which one? I'm currently just perusing the best sellers list on NewEgg and there are a few that fall between 100-150 which should be big enough for OS and Office installation. Thanks for any tips!

I don't need or want alot of space. I'm more concerned with if the speedup is noticeable enough to warrant the purchase or not.
My laptop is an HP dv9500z, so dual core (Turion64x2 TL-62 2.1GHz). -
Get the 40 or 80gb from Intel. If you are only using the machine for Win 7 and just internet then a 40gb will be fine. I have the 80gb version in my main rig with 43gb left. I don't put every program on my SSD cause it's not needed. If the budget allows go for the Intel 40gb drive, or A-Data models.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Intel, 40GB for $109

as opposed to WD 64GB for $135:

Does the Intel support all the features listed on the WD? Namely, TRIM, NCQ, wear leveling, etc?? Also, the read/write specs listed are much higher for the WD at 250/170 versus 170/35 for the Intel. Do these number not translate to better performance in the real world? I know there has been alot of development in the SSD world, skimmed some interesting articles on Anandtech discussing various controllers (Sandforce??) Just want to make sure I don't get screwed and purchase old stock with missing features. -
from here:Intel's X25-V will grow to 80GB in Q4, presumably at the same price point as the 40GB drive today
perhaps I should wait a bit longer before taking the SSD plunge...
