I just picked up a pair of Monitor 10 speakers. They look as though they have the Peerless tweeters.

I was wondering if anyone had any spec information on these. I've read they were rated at 4, 6 and 8 ohms and was wondering which was correct.

Thanks in advance.

Now I'm really confused. I found a Monitor 10B manual online that stated they were 6 ohm. Polks web site says the Series 2 is rated at 8 ohms. The amp I'm using is 4 ohm stable so I know I'm safe in that respect but curiosity is getting the better of me...

    Welcome,

There were several Monitor 10's during their run. They could be 4, 6 or even 8 ohms depending on which "year" you have. If you infact have peerless tweets it's most likely they are 4 ohm.

Polk used atleast 3 different tweeters during the Monitor run and atleast 2 different midwoofers. The Series II Monitors were the last run during the 90's.

Pic's would help. Do your's have a tweeter fuse? Do your's have (2) fuses? No fuses? What does the cabinet look like? How is the grill attached? Which model tweeter and which model mid woofers all can help "date" the speaker.

Black faced cabinet with vinyl laminate covering particle board.
No fuse - at least not on the outside of the cabinet.
The tweets are black with a clear membrane(?) and say "Silver Coil Dome."
    Serial #s are 142285 & 146782
The grill attaches to black rounded pins that are sunk into the face.
The grills cover the whole front of the speaker.

I'm not sure how to post pics or I'd post one...
