#1 is the BSR, no?
#3 strikes me as odd, where is everything?

The board in deck 3 is mounted to the faceplate... So, who makes what?

You mean you can't guess the model numbers of each of them??? :P
Okay, CD Deck 1 is, of course, the BSR (mfg 1991). CD Deck 2 is my old Sharp DX-670 (Mfg 1988). And last but.... well, maybe it is least.... a Sony CDP-297 (mfg 1992).
In terms of front panel appeal (which I didn't ask you for 'cause I didn't feel like taking any more pics), I'd rate, from worst to best, the Sharp, then the BSR, then the Sony.
I was very surprised to open up the Sony and find everything mounted on the front plate.... therefore I decided on this little comparison. Pretty wild, to me...

Interesting... were it that all the reduced internals represented only progress without a dose of economic compromises to boot.
I still have and use my original, Zenith Hi-Fi VCR. Cost me almost a grand back in '85 or so. It's built like an effin tank. Had it in for service one time in '95 and the tech told me to never let it go. By then plastic parts had become the norm and with them the expected life dropped considerably.
Somewhat different story with CD players, what with DAC development and all, but I still love the sound, and heft, of my old Denon DCD-1500. It was the first player to rate a perfect 10 out of 10 from Digital Audio magazine. Funny thing was the TOTL, DCD-1800 only bagged a 9.More later,
Tour...

Russ,
you do know your BSR!
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
