A 5.1 Creative Inspire transformed into a 10.1 ?

Hi!
Sorry if I am in the wrong place but it looks like in here the people know more about speakers and electronics ...
So ... I have 2 Creative Inspire 5100 systems and I am thinking to use the satellites from the second one in order to create some sort of dual 5.1 setup.
The goal would be to achieve a better distribution of the sound by placing the speakers in the corners of the room both on the floor and hanging from the ceiling.
Now I understand that using just a splitter to divide each channel might not be advisable (is this necessarily true?) so the only solution is to hook them up in series of 2.
Would this approach help me achieve what I intended or I would get delays and echoes?
Thank you very much for any light you might shed on this!
All the best!

How big is the room? I think you may be better off to get rid of the 5.1 systems and get a good 7.1 or 9.1 receiver with some decent speakers.

I am the type of person that believes that the more speakers the merrier as it provides for better sound distribution and at lower listening levels. However, series or paralell distribution is not agood approach as it defeats proper engeneering of both speakers and receivers. Series arrangements can even be a hazard for the receiver as it lowers the overall impedance. I've used combination of series-paralell set-ups for commercial use but the best approach is seperate external amps driving the different areas or at least some form of impedance matching boxes or you could also use wireless distribution.

    Cheers!
