MIT IC'S......I've Been Converted!

Well these bad boys arrived on Friday and I hooked them up to the Oppo for 2 chan analog.
Bought them off a Gon'er for $60 shipped. After what a few here had to say about them, I was actually more skeptical than looking forward to hearing them.
I actually thought I would be turning these around as they would not make an improvement enough to warrant keeping them.
OMFG, I have never been so wrong in my life. And I was firmly in the ehh, cables?, crowd. While I knew they made an improvement in the true audiophile equipment, where gear is so revealing it can piss you off because you throw out some of your favorite music because it was recorded and mastered with bookshelf speakers!
First off, all of my gear has to pull double duty, music first, HT second. and do both well. I prefer the music side to be the best, well, because HT is much easier to pull off.
I have been using 4 cd's for demo's continously as I have added new gear over the last 5 months. That way I keep a strong reference point as gear changes.
H9, thanks for the input, you were DEAD RIGHT! *bowing* We're not worthy!:D
Well, right now all I can say is HOLY ****! I smiled really big when I fired up the Arcam when it was added, I actually giggled tonight at the end of one track.
Bass extension was unbelievable, what bloat that was still present before these were added, simply vanished. Brock, you were right, that leading edge really tightened up and became very detailed. And talk about smooth....
I don't think these lean out the bass at all, they make it more real and organic...very, very natural. Of course if you are used to what the typical AVR puts out, you will feel that way.
But the real treat came in added clarity, sounstage and detail. If you were blinfolded, you wouldn't indentify these as RTi A7's.
The conclusion I have came to on the A7's is, these speakers are way better than what people think they are. They can be bright, but with the right gear selection they can sing as good as some really expensive speakers. I was very careful and researched in gear selection. Slightly warm amp, very neutral and detailed Pre/Pro, and a great transport. I have been very lucky in my selections, great synergy so far.
The MIT's really smoothed out the top end and opened it up even more. Very accurate and fast with great airiness. Music was very live sounding and enveloping. I almost thought for a second the surrounds were on.
I am having a hard time believing these cables had this much impact, but they did.
I think MIT is going to have me for awhile, now I will be adding speaker cables.
I will post more of a "official" review over the weekend.
Next week the Signal Cable HT TWO's come in for the Pre/Pro to Amp, it should be interesting how they interact once burned in.
More later boys and girls!

Yeah, that wouldn't be me. This was a hobby of mine back in the 80's, that I just now have the time to get back to.
Once you have a decent set of speakers, it's what you feed them!
I just shake my head when I see threads like, " i am really thinking of getting rid model x speaker(which is a very good speaker), because the mid range, detail, depth insert whatever, is not that good." Why don't you try replacing your crappy $500 receiver first, before you spend literally thousands of dollars on speakers that will probably even sound worse with very revealing speakers.Polk RTi A7's FrontPolk CSi A4 CenterPolk Tsi 100's SurroundOnkyo TX-RZ50:)Oppo BDP 83 (Collecting dust)MIT Terminator 3 Speaker CableMIT Terminator 2 IC's (Oppo 2 chan)Signal Cable HT TWOEpson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080Hisense 55 U8GBelkin PF 60 Power Center -

HAHA, not anytime soon, looking at AVt3 speaker love or EXp1. To go up the food chain would also require an upgrade in gear, well, replacing the amp. Which is on the list for next year. I just had to go with what I knew when I got back into this. Untill I got my feet wet. I have always had my critical ear, mainly my car systems were very good. It wasn't feasible to invest in home gear.
The philosophy hasn't really changed much in 25 years, just the gimmicks!:D
HT has corrupted the hobby a bit, and I love good HT, but 2 chan is my first love.

Ric, that's awesome and I'm glad you are enjoying them. I was a hold out for awhile myself not believing they could make that much of an improvement. Enjoy them!
I would steer clear of the EXp's and go for the AVt's series. EXp's are certainly nice, but the AVt's are a better "bang for the buck" even if they are a little more expensive. They are worth saving up extra $$$ for.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -

These are IC's, was using some Acoustic Research before. These were a set of older used MIT Terminator 2's I bought fairly cheap off a guy, just to test them out. Hey Ric - I know it will be quite a while until it would be your turn, but I'd get in on the MIT Cables CVT 1 Demo here at Club Polk. That way, you can check out the higher-end and more modern stuff. Here's the thread: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79365
