speaker rotation

I just purchased a set of polk audio surround speakers. Should I rotate the front speakers with the back so they get even use (sort of like rotating your tires)?

No, you don't have to but I have to admit to getting a pretty good chuckle out of that one. I'm not laughing at you it's just a funny analogy. Rotate every 3 months or 35 DVD's!

Welcome to the forum, BTW, what do you have for a rig?

I moved my first pair of LSi15's to the surround back position after I got my second pair a couple months later. The first pair was pretty well broken in by then, but I figured the 2nd pair wouldn't break in as quickly in the surround role, so they are my mains now.

Welcome Robert... at least you got one serious reply, but have to admit I'm chuckling a little as well... :)

As fireshoes indicated, if they're identical, why not rotate...

    So what did you buy?

I had Yamaha cabinet speakers but my wife said they were taking up too much room and to get rid of them. Translation, go buy small speakers. I bought the polk 6700 sat's with a 8" Velodyne sub. My stereo system is probably about 10 years old now (all Kenwood components) , still performing fine but I'm missing out on the 5.1. I'll be replacing my Kenwood receiver with something els pretty soon, any suggestions? I'm looking at a $500.00 budget.

Are you open to used equipment?

For $500 you xhould be able to snag a nice 5,1 AVR. So much moving to 7.1 going on that 5.1's are a good buy.
