You're right, but I clicked with interest, as I just received the first unsolicited call on my cell in over a year this morning! (I may have won a Lincoln Navigator, all I have to do is call back!!!!)

There is good reason to sign up on the "Do Not Call" registry whether or not cell phone numbers will be released. Years ago I was getting calls every 15 minutes on my home phone and every few hours on my cell phone. I put my numbers on the "do not call" list and after a few weeks the calls stopped completely, not any calls since. This had been going on for years. I had actually stopped answering any calls waiting to hear a known voice on the answering machine. I even turned off the ringer, the phone had become useless to me.

This has been going on for years. I really wish people would think for themselves and do a bit of fact checking before they open their mouth or send off that email.

This statement is on the Do Not Call website:

    Cell Phones
You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. The registry has accepted cell phone numbers since it opened for registrations in June 2003. There is no deadline to register a home or cell phone number on the Registry.

You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. Federal Communications Commission regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers.

Even so, it got a lot of people off my home and cell phone. Remember, any time you give out your phone number, home or cell, you take the chance of getting on peoples lists.
