Hi, i am fairly new to the club polk. I have asked a few questions in the past and you guys have always pointed me in the right direction. My current setup is a 3.1 system, center is csi3, and right and left is the tsi100. The reciever is a hk avr510. What i am looking to do is getting some towers for right and left ch. and moving the tsi100 to the rear surrounds. I want a nice even sound, i have heard that if you get to much of a speaker for the towers they can overpower your center. I am looking at tsi400/300, and am also looking at the monitor 50/60. The monitors (from what i can tell) look quite a bit cheaper than the tsi towers. What would you guys recomend and are the monitors an inferior speaker compaired to the tsi series. Also i am looking at some referbs from polk audio on ebay. Would this be a good way to go? Also would my reciever power this whole setup witout a problem. oh btw i have a psw10. Any help would be great

the monitors are pretty much the same thing as the TSI line with some minor differences. The monitors are no longer made so that is why they are cheaper than the TSI line. IMO if you don't mind the different look I would go with the Monitor 60 or 70's and move the ones you have to the back. You could use your current center for now and always upgrade to the CS2 or CS20 in the future if you feel the center is over powered by the mains.

or you could buy another set for 100 or Monitor of the same and upgrade your sub and just cross them over at 80 and be fine.

Another way to go would to be to look around for a pair of RTi-series towers (8s or 10s), which I think can still be found new. They are the series that is timbre-matched to your center. The RTi8 would be an upgrade over the TSi/Monitor series.

I second that. An RTi speaker will mesh better with the CSi3. Generally speaking, you want, at minimum, the front soundstage to match sonically.

The monitors will do you very well and considering their price point now it's a no-brainer. I had the 70's for 3 yrs and had a few different amps powering them. The do have their limits no doubt but they can hang with some pretty decent gear.

They're not a "better" fit, they simply ARE the fit. CSi3/CSi5 was the designed center channels for the RTi line.

I vote against the Monitor series when given the chance, as the RTi line is certainly superior. The HK is a good receiver for its age. There are better out there, but it should suffice. Run a separate amp for the front 3 when you can get around to it for a nice sound upgrade.
