Radar Detector

I broke my friends radar detector last night fooling around in his car. I ripped it off the windshield and knocked right in a mud puddle....I don't have the money to buy one brand new, or replace the one he had, so if anyone had one that works well, he had an Escort 8500 something or other....something that compares to that....that would be awesome.
