to demo/impress some friends on my surround sound.

I have been using Quantum of Solace for now. Can anyone recommend me some other movies?

TIA

I always thought the beginning of Gladiator was a good one. "On my signal, unleash hell."
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

The beginning of "LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring". Not only is there a good deal of surround effects in the battle but when Sauron get's his fingers cut off and the ring drops the sound effect of the explosion of Sauron's power is unreal!

The opening minutes of Master and Commander. It starts out with quiet background with distinct sounds and dialogue showing off how much clarity your system can produce then moves into very nice escalating sequence of surround sound and explosions.

I use this as a demo ALL THE TIME..:D

I heard from a guy that a film teacher uses it also to demonstrate sound delicacies and then raw power all in about 5 min. of time.;)

This would be my other choice. Awsome sound effects from the boat creaking!
I used to use this as a demo all the time too before I hooked up a system out in the man cave.

I have used the attack on Pearl Harbor as a demo. For bass in addition to the ring drop in LOTR the aquarium tap from Finding Nemo can be a shocker.

Not a great movie, but Star Wars episode III starts out with some great bass rumbling and flyby effects...

It's an old movie but I like how my walls shake - Top Gun. What an awesome beginning as the movie builds up and crescends into the roar of the F-14 as it catapults into the sky and "Danger Zone" kicks in.

Apocalypto is my favorite. Best surround sound opening scene guaranteed. Opens to a shot of the rainforest teeming with life. You can hear the different types of bugs flying around the room. The BD is so compelling it feels like you are standing in the Amazon. Then it morphs into an awesome foot chase where every sound is intense. If you don't have it, pick it up. Hands down one of my favorite discs and I have a bunch.
