I can't get the USB to DAC to work for the life of me. The computer is looking for some short of driver to run it as it says it "found new hardware" but I can not for the life of me get the signal to output to the DAC. Is there a special driver I would need to download in order to do this?

The DAC states it does not need any special driver ect to run off the PC. Its a TeraDak. I've been trying to figure out what to do all night and have not found anything online so far.

Recommendations?

and according to Creative regarding my soundcard I guess they made an add on to my card for a driver so that I can now output via digital but I have to pay for it, and its like 5-10 bucks to down load it (rip off I think) so if the USB thing isn't going to work then I"ll go that route or try to at least I guess.

and I'm currently using Itunes and would like to keep it that way if possible. Only reason is that I used to use itunes and another player but found it a PITB at times and just like to keep it to one if possible. I have about 80 gigs right now of music on this thing and its growing. I also use my ipod and iphone nonstop so thats why I enjoy just have the 1 player.

Go into control panel and set your default sound card to the new USB DAC.

    +1

If you've got the volume icon on the bottom right corner (notification area), just click that and go to audio devices. You'll see a list of things to choose from IE onboard audio/sound car/USB DAC. Just make sure the DAC is connected and ON when you do this so it shows up on the list.

the DAC does not appear in the list. It only shows the sound card and another option which is there regardless of the DAC.

The "new hardware wizard" pops up and can't find the driver ect for it, the DAC does not show that it is connected via USB from the light on the front.

Then you need to download the driver from the internet for your USB DAC. Either that or tell Windows to search the internet for the driver.

Probably a dumb suggestion but I'd say do a search online and see how others got it to work with their computer connected via USB.

Maybe it's your operating system, and it requires you to download/install some generic drivers (I know this was true of a specific USB model wireless adapter).

I'll try and see if I can get another PC to try it on. My gf's is a Vista one so that might be even harder trying to compare the vista vs XP and all that jazz
