a few days ago my wife told me the radio in the hot tub was on. its basically a car stereo built into the side of the hot tub with speekers behind the headrests. I've been known to do some strange things while sleepwalking so I figured maybe that was the case. so yesterday morning I walked out of the house and the damn thing was on again. I shut it off and went back in the house. 15 minutes later I went back outside and sure enough it was on again. this morning I walked outside to water the garden and it was on. Damn! no kids or pranksters around here. anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

Maybe your hot tub is a time machine and your guests from the future don't turn your radio off after they use it.

    Solid theory, really.

Is it the kind that can be operated with remote? Perhaps that's the reason. My neighbors were always turning on my ceiling fans and lights until I changed the code. Of course, I'm not sure you can do that in this case.

What type of switch turns it on? Does it have an auto-on function tied to anything the hot tub does?

Is it a Sony head-unit? Because those things tend to suck.

Its just like a car stereo.just a regular on/off power switch. an auto on function I'm not sure but I can't cut the power to it cause it all runs off a 220 that runs the tub. wife and I just got home and the damn thing is on again. I'm stumped here. A couple good theories so far, I think Demi possibly had an alien abduction encounter but I'm also starting to wonder if the unit is remote compatible but didn't come with a remote?

A remote sensor you aren't aware of is a good guess; try researching the unit by model number to see if in it comes with one in other applications.

After that I would wonder if there is any contaminates that got inside and is causing a short that turns-on the unit.

Are the knobs on the outside of the tub? Can you put a cover on it?
.....What if a squirrel is using it to get up and down the side of the tub?

If you leave it on, does it turn off on its own as well?
Try to find a way to get another variable.
