Does anyone currently own an Outlaw Audio Model 7700 7-Channel Amplifier?
If so, how is the sound quality and do you recommend it to others?
It is over two grands, and I wonder if I should consider Parasound A 52 5-Channel amplifier instead, even though it is only 5 channels and 225 wpc, as supposed to the Outlaw's 300 wpc, and they both are priced around $2,200.
Thanks for the feedbacks. :confused::)

I'd take the Parasound over anything that Outlaw makes. It's a much better amplifier.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

What do you think makes it a better amplifier to you?

    Thanks for the inputs.
I will look into Parasound A 52 more in depth then. ;)

Any other suggestions for other amplifiers in $2,200 range for 5- or 7-Channel amplifiers would be appreciated! :)
    Thanks in advance.

Just a quesion, since the Parasound is SOOOO much better to you, who makes the Outlaw, and where is it made?

To the OP, the Outlaw 7700 is 200 by 7, the 7900 is 300 by 7...

Email Parasound, I'm not your teacher. I just go by what I know and have personally owned. YMMV and I have no vested interest in either so it doesn't matter in the end. I noticed you own an Outlaw amplifier, awesome but you can't expect everyone to fawn over it.

I've owned awful gear, gear that has been made fun of, gear that has been classified as horrible, decisions that have been questioned by the closest of friends, who cares...its just electronics and opinion. Relax. F them, go with what sounds best to you and works in your rig.

Why didn't you rebuild your own xovers? Isn't it kinda the same answer?

nobody likes their baby call ugly.........

I like Parasound, B&K, NAD, possibly consider a two-channel and a five channel, or even just a quality 2 channel if you have an A/V to handle the other channels.

I did have a Parsound amp...
The 7700 is made by ATI, in California.

I did my own crossovers in the LSi7s, point to point. I was offered the Ninja upgrade for the cost of parts to be the "Prototype." I did't realize that was a bad thing...

Honestly I was just asking If you had heard one and knew...

    Thanks for all the inputs.
I went with Outlaw 7700 Model 7-Channel Amp for 300 wpc at 4 ohms.
It has only been three days since I started using it with my 7.2 LSi setup, but so far I love the difference it has brought over to my Home Theatre System! The sound is so clear and mid and upper ranges that I hear things that I did not hear before.

I will be happy for the next 10-20 years with this amp! :)

I really think it is a good money for value amp that I decided to go with.

Gotta give the nod here to the Sunfire as well. You can get the TGA 7400 for that same price range these days as well. Audiogon is your friend.:)

Weight isn't everything (though it is a lot of things, such as heavy). :p

That said, you can't solely judge an amplifier on its weight. Check out Audiogon or AudioClassics for used gear.

I looked at Sunfire's two most recent amplifiers, TGA-7401 and TGA-7201, both 7-Channel Amps with 800 wpc and 400 wpc in 4-Ohms, respectively. 7401 for around $3500 and 7201 for around $2500 from Independentaudiovideo.com.

I noticed that both Sunfire's Amps are light and very powerful, because of their patented Tracking Downconverter, "a device that previews the signal to determine how much power it will require, then provides precisely that amount of juice, nothing more, nothing less".

My question is, their THD is "less than 0.5%". But, just comparing TGA-7201 with similar Power output of 200 wpc at 8-Ohms to Outlaw's Model 7700, I noticed that the 7201's THD is 17 times higher than Outlaw Model 7700's THD of 0.03%.

Does that mean that the sound is clearer and purer in Outlaw amplifier than the Sunfire's?

    Thanks. :)

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure both are well below anything we can actually hear. Either amp will power your speakers beautifully.
