Monitor 70's or 40's for left and right surround

I have monitor 70's for my front speakers and monitor 40's for my rear speakers. I want to make my system into 7.1 but want some opinions on what would be a better way to go. The huge floorstanding 70's or the little 40's which I will be putting on a stand. thanks.

It may be tempting to use the 70s given current sale prices. However, placement of the 70s may be an issue. Also, powering 4 Monitor 70 may be too much for some AVRs. Just a couple of things to think about. Bigger is not always better with surrounds.

How big is the living/family room?

More speakers isn't always better, and a cramped up 7.1 setup will sound worse than a proper 5.1 setup.

I think you would be better off with another set of 70's. I have a set of jbl e20's for surrounds, and jbl e10's back surrounds, and was looking at the monitor 50's, but I don't think they would give me the same speaker height as I get with the jbl's on stands at 43 inches - ear level for me. The 60's are almost as expensive as the 70's. There is a slight mismatch in tonal quality between the jbl's and the polks..4 monitor 70's would sound and look great...
