Hey all,

I recently picked up a pair of M70's for fronts and a CS2 center channel, should i get Monitor30's or 40's for the surround in a 5.1 setup? My room is fairly small (apartment living room 14 x 12).

Thanks!

Monitor 40's should do good and match with 70s.

I'm kind of partial to the Monitor 30's myself.
Don't know your physical room setup, but the 30's will wall mount very nicely and are a heck of a speaker for their price/size.
If you have the room/moolah, the 40's will certainly fit right into your 70's/CS2 setup seamlessly.

Also, as Cfrizz mentioned, "Welcome !". :)

My personal problem with the 40's is that they seem rather large. If you can fit them in your room without problems (mounted, on a bookshelf, on a stand) then go for the 40's. If you want to sacrifice a little on the sound to have a more reasonably sized surround speaker then go with the 30's. From what I have read both sound great. The 40's may just have a wider range of sound?

If you want a floor standing speaker you could always buy a M50 or M60 as well. They will sound somewhere between the 40's and 70's and match up with your 70's well. Also don't need to worry about stands or mounts.

I have a similar set up with m40 rears. I vote for m40`s.. Both would work well.

not to hijack the thread... but im interested too... im in the market for rear surrounds and i have a similar setup, cs2, monitor 70's..... only im running a 7.1 so i have the monitor 40's for my side surrounds im wondering if i should do monitor 30's for the rears or another set of 40's? the good people at monoprice make an awesome mount for the 40's so thats not a problem......
