I'm looking to buy a Forte Audio Amplfier Model 4a. My question is... Whats the difference between the model 4 and the model 4a? Also what is the value of each amp... what the price range people sell them at? Thank you for any info..

How about doing a Google search?

The 4a has balanced inputs the 4 does not. They also use IGBT's which are not the best for audio use and impossible to find if you need repairs. Used probably in the $450-550 range.

I also heard this when I owned my Forte 1A, which uses FETs. However, the other half of the reading I did was not only the IGBTs are impossible to find, but that the writer had never heard of one having to be replaced on one of those amps. They do have rare parts, but seem to be bullet proof so far.

XLR on a Forte is a sweet connection on a great amp.

    I would take a 1A over a 4A any day.

Agreed as 50wpc class A is pretty sweet; but XLR would have been nice. :)

I have a Forte 1A that I would be willing to part with. I would like to get it checked out before I set a price. It is one of the nicest amps IMO, 50 watts of pure class A power. I will be happy to send you some pics and we can start from there.
