You want 1980s pop stars fighting each other?

Really? Twenty-five years after anyone else cares?

Well, Syfy is only too happy to oblige.

Reuters reports the too-hip-for-sci-fi network has cast Debbie Gibson and Tiffany in one of its Saturday night original movies, "Mega Python vs. Gatoroid."

No, they do not play the title roles, nor do the animals in question have mile-high perms.

Gibson will play a fanatical animal-rights activist who frees illegally imported exotic snakes from pet stores, sending them into the Everglades, where they grow even larger than shoulder pads. Tiffany will play an overzealous park ranger who uses dangerous methods to save endangered alligators.

In the script, the two brawl at a party, then take matters outside into the swamp. Because girl fights never get old, even if the girls do. (Gibson is 39 and Tiffany 38.)

Both singers previously have been cast in Syfy originals, but never together. Thomas Vitale, Syfy's executive VP for programming and original movies, said the former bubble gum singers "loved the idea of taking this perceived rivalry and having some fun with it."

That's nice. So that means we can expect a Miley Cyrus-Selena Gomez Syfy smackdown in about 2035.
