Nad + sda2

I'm sure we have some folks in here with experience with NAD's line. I have owned only receiver's in the past and am thinking of getting either the HK3490 stereo receiver or for the first time an integrated amp. from the NAD line. This is to hook up to my SDA 2's in a rather large room (15x 20 or so with very thick pile carpet on the floor). Like advice on getting either the HK or something from NAD of about the same price level as the HK but not more than $600. I'm only going to connect it to a CD player and my Squeezebox. I listen mostly to 50's vocals. It would be nice though to have something that can make a large classical orchestra sound credible. Thanks once again!

Well, I havn't had too much experience with HK but I can tell you from experience that NAD and SDA's go VERY well together for the price.
I would highly suggest using a pre amp and a separate power amp If you want to get the full effect from those SDA's. You can easily do that with NAD if you are willing to go used. Just make sure the amp is common ground as some of those NAD amps are not so be just check with NAD before buying one.
Best of luck and enjoy! -

Of course separates are fine. The HK is not a bad receiver..but if you went with a
NAD 37X series integrated that would be A LOT of POWER! Lots! And a good cheap alternative to real separates...you can find a c370, for example, for as low as 500 (even less) used?

I used an older integrated NAD C317 with great results with a pair of SDA-2B's. Plenty of power.
