ok so i fried my db 12. i bought the mm 12 yesterday and im keeping the db box. i opened up the db box and took out the sub and saw that the wires connect on both sides of the speaker. the mm 12 only connects on one side. so what i did was cut the wires and matched up black to black and red to red twisted them togeter and put it in the mm 12 slots. does that seem right?? are the db wires twisted together enough for the mm slots?

That should work...Are you connecting them with tabs or are you soldering?

i didnt connect them with anything. literally just cut off the wires from the fried sub. used a wire cutter... matched up the colors...twisted the wires together and litreally put it in the slot. the slot is these two buttons you push down and i put it in the hole. im gonna get pics within the next 20 min

If I were you, I'd check to see what box type/size the MM requires as opposed to the db12 you had. Too big/small/ported/sealed will yield different results and even if the MM is a better sub (probably is but I'm not too familiar with Polk's car audio product) it won't always sound better if it's not in the proper enclosure.

It'll also help if you told us what kind of amp you're running and how it's hooked up.

From the sound of things, your db12 was a DVC model and your MM is a single voice coil model. Again I wouldn't wire things up just yet without knowing what I was doing first, you could end up with a different load altogether.
