I know this is the talk of a heretic, especially with all the old timers around here, but that movie does NOT hold up, IMO.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

They actually made an excellent blu-ray remastered collector's edition of this. Considering its age, it has great pq and aq. And they included many different 'cuts' of the movie on multiple disks. Seeing versions without Deckard's narration and with some deleted scenes restored and others cut made the movie make more sense to me.

I watched that Blu-ray. First time I had ever seen the movie.
Harrison Ford makes any movie kind of cool IMHO..

What was great about this blu-ray was that they went back to the original film elements, paying great attention to detail in rebuilding the video and audio for the 'final cut'. The extras describe how the process was done. Including assembling the audio track from bits and pieces from many different sources and discovering film negatives that were supposed to be 'junked' still sitting on a pallet waiting after all these years.

They even reshot the glass shatter scene by digitally inserting Zhora's (the actress reshot the scene just for this release) head over the stunt double's because blu-ray's increased resolution made the stunt double too obvious.

Rob Ager's 3 part Blade Runner analysis is a wonderful pre-viewing primer for past fans or great after movie run down.

The guy just ferrets out all the small details.

This is a phenominal movie! The Blu-Ray is amazing! I am glad that Ridley Scott released all the different versions of the film. I actually prefer the naration in the film. It gives the movie more of an "old gumshoe" feeling to it, but still is set in the future. I think it works well.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I may be wrong, but I read somewhere that Harrison Ford attempted to make the narration as atrocious as possible so that the studio would be forced to leave it out. Unfortunately, the plan backfired and we are left with a droll, uninterested Decard almost ruining the movie.

Then again... some people have just used this as further proof that he was a replicant, himself.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I read that same thing (about the voice over diaglogue). I think this is why it works even better. When you think about it, everyone in the movie is in a depressed (low energy) state, and the voice over echoes this even more. It works pretty well (to me).
