Ever paid $100+ for a CD or LP?

Just for a single; not counting double albums or box sets.

Do you have a limit that you'll never pay more than x dollars no matter what?

There are a lot of ebay sellers of $100+ especially SACDs, but I'm wondering how many buyers there are at those prices.

I've recently considered the Zeppelin lp's at $100 to $150 each, still can't pull the trigger though. I just bought 50 mint lp's for $100 at the thrift store so that makes me re-think also because there was so much cool stuff I had never heard before. These were obviously from someone who cared.

Yes, I paid just over $100 for Donald Fagen's Kamakiriad on vinyl from a guy in Denmark. I've sold two Lp's for over that. Both were AC/DC Black Ice mispresses that I found new at a local electronics store. Both sold for over $300 USD. By the way, I still have two copies.

No way. My limit is around $20. If a particular pressing of an item I want is so rare that it goes for considerably more than that, I use "other means" to acquire it (and no, I'm not talking about robbing a record store!) ;)

I have, and it was worth every dollar. There are some XRCD's that seem to be on the level of hen's teeth, so the price goes up dramatically. A superb recording is something special to behold, regardless of level of gear.

Yes, I paid $127.00 for Love's "Four Sail" CD on the thunderbolt label (before Electra released a remastered version). I had that CD many years before the newer one came out though so I considered it a good investment. That album is phenominal and was worth the price (to me).

$100 for a single? Humm, I don't think I ever did. I am not saying I wouldn't but it would have to be something I am desperate to own. I am somewhat cheap, I tend to wait for deals, I like to maximise my puchases for the $$$s spent ;)

No, never have. I think the most I've paid so far is $30. I'd pay more if it was something special and phenomenal recording.

A number of years back I sold 5 Japanese mini-LP YES CDs (the original releases, not the newer ones released) for over $1,100 on ebay. That was a good investment.:)

No, but I had in my collection a long time ago a picture disc of Rush Hemispheres. It was given to the roadies and I worked with his girl friend at the time and he let me have it. Not sure how much money I lost by losing track of it.

Thanks! While I know some of those SACDs go for big $$$ nowadays, I don't think I've spend more than $50.00 for any SACD....aside from the first Genesis SACD boxset.

well I would on some things if they were really rare, for example the Tool live CD that they had out back years ago. Impossible to find as it went out of print right away and now costs an arm and a leg to get. That and some other things such as vinyl that you can't find anywhere as it was done in a very limited run. Anything over 200 bucks thought I would have to stop and ask myself if I really wanted it. Then go out and get drunk and buy it and say I forgot how much it was lol.
