Theater Room Speaker Layout
I'm in the process of setting up a dedicated theater room in my home and space constraints have pushed me towards getting FXi A6s as side surrounds. Does anyone see any issue using these with Monitor 70s that are going to be used as surround backs? If not, how often are the black FXi A6s on sale from PolkDirect's Ebay store?
Here's the layout: I'm using 3 TSi500s and two PSW505s behind my acoustically transparent screen (SeymourAV).

Did you buy any speakers yet? If not I would suggest the RTiA series for HT which would be a step in SQ. Your layout looks awesome but, I would use FXiA1s or 3s on the side/rear. You can also opt for a direct firing bookshelf in the rear like RTiA1s.
The reason I'm suggesting them on your sides is to reduce clutter and both rows of seating can experience that immersion with surround channels since they will sort of fire in both directions and bounce sound off the walls. If you were to use smaller speakers in the back of the room you could also add a 3rd seat which would be great.
Also what are the dimensions of this room? Use Polk's ebay store for some excellent deals and save yourself some coin. See the showcase for ideas with other dedicated HTs/PJ setups. There's a few of here with PJs to include myself, grimster, kuntasensei, and few other guys just can't think off the top of my cloudy dome. I'm sure we can help should you have questions.
Looking forward to seeing your build log and pics of your setup completed. Nice to see another Polkie going for the big screen. Congrats.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I already own 3 TSi 500s, 4 Monitor 70s, and 2 PSW505s. I was thinking of buying FXiA6s for the side surrounds and then using Monitor 70s for rear surrounds. All three TSi 500s and both PSW505s will be behind the screen, as it is acoustically transparent. As for the PJ, I'm using a Panasonic PT-AE4000u, which I'm really happy with so far.
Any reason you didn't recommend the FXiA6s? Also, I only see white FXiA6s on Polk's Ebay store (hopefully they'll get some black ones soon).Did you buy any speakers yet? FXiA6s are pretty large. My room is 14x20 and I use FXi3s and they perform very well. If you need the larger speaker go for it. I dont think you will need it in your case either. This going to be a great build I see. If you already have everything just go with it but add a set of FXi speakers as your sides.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I have read that place a sub 1/2 between the seating and the screen along a side wall helps with cancellation issues. You may consider that in lieu of placing both subs up front.

I'm with Sherard on this one, if at all possible I'd look into purchasing some FXi's for the side surrounds. That way you don't take the chance of someone knocking them over if they decide to get up and go the the restroom or grab a drink in the middle of the movie in pure darkness. If you already own the tower speakers and wanna use them as rears and sides possibly look into building some columns to place them in. Just a thought.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!
