Have a set of MM651's I'm trying to install in a boat with a new Kenwood HU. Can not get it to run with the Polk's hooked up, am I to assume that the HU won't run the quoted "2.7 ohm load" Am I going to have to step up to the Ultra marine 4 ohmers?

I would consider adding an inexpensive amplifier to power them that is stable with loads lower than 4 ohms- it'll end up sounding louder, cleaner and all around better than it would off just head unit power anyway.

what do you mean 'cannot get it to run'? as in no sound whatsover? even at low volume? if so - might want to doublecheck all the connections

Kenwood radios will shut down at the first sign of trouble. I have to go with Greg on this add an amp and you will be fine...
