The Pioneer is the 50 inch MONITOR ONLY, which the monitor only is perfect for me, but the Panasonic is a 58"....and my room can easily support the larger screen....but the other is a Pioneer. The Best Buy warehouse in GA. has the 50" Pioneers in stock (not sure how many - this was per a sales assoc. in ATL). I really wanted a 60", but wondering is anyone bought a 50" Pio and regretted later not going with the larger screen size....thoughts???

A projector would be ideal for the larger screen. Have you given thought to using a smaller LED/LCD for day time viewing and using a projector/screen for movie viewing at night? That would save you some coin plus give you the bigger picture that you desire. If you don't want the 100" 1080p image then consider the Panasonic, they are very nice screens. The Pioneer will have deeper inky blacks that are a tad better than the Panasonic, but you really won't notice it much. IMHO take option one and go smaller screen and take the PJ, you don't need a dedicated room either.

I'd take quality over size. Pioneer hands down has a better display I have one 60" elite and one 50" kuro monitor and love both equally

pioneers last kuro was the KRP-500m which only ran $1500 brand new and the picture is equal to my elite minus a few settings. Definitely worth twice what they sold for.

Now THATS a low price for a Pioneer. The guy from Best Buy had a price of 2699.00 for the 101-FD w/ free shipping. I received a couple of phone quotes of just under 2000.00 for the Panasonic from a couple of reputable online dealers.

I actually kicked around the projector idea due the room receives direct sunlight and I can keep it pretty dark in there all day, but the idea of more custom-install stuff - projector / screen -may not go over well.

Hmmmm....I guess it comes down to quality over quantity.
