So Monday I was walking through my garage in almost darkness, stepped over my rototiller but not far enough and stepped on a tine, cuttin the hell out of my foot. We're talking about 1/8" deep and almost the size of a dime. I went the doctors, had him fix me up and even got a teatnus shot since I haven't had one in over ten years.

Fast forward to today. I can barely walk due to the pain and my left deltoid is sore as hell from the shot. So sore, I almost screamed putting on deodorant this morning due to having to lift my arm up to almost ground parallel.

Well, in golf league I was matched against the best player in our league, who is a 4 handicap. There's no way I was going to miss this opportunity to take out the #1 and decided somehow I was going to play. I'm the #3 out of 32 guys with a 7 handicap of a company league that has over 1000 employees. I wore a flip-flop sandal because wearing a shoe hurt too much, especially when the back of the ankle part rubbed against my wound.

I shot the best round of my life, ever. I haven't shot a 37 in almost 10 years (I'm 28) and have never shot even par in my life. I hit every green in regulation, had 3 birdies, 3 pars and 3 bogies. Each bogie was a 3 putt, mainly due to nerves at the end since I was having the round of my life. I shot a 36, in gimped state! I literally almost fainted on the last green with a 10 foot putt for birdie, which I lipped and ended with a par.

Just thought I'd share my story as I'm still pumped!

Wow, good job! Golf is tough enough when you're in good shape, I don't know how you managed to play your best round like that.

I'm usually around a 5 handicap but had some really bad rounds earlier in the year that are still haunting me since we have a rolling 6 round average. Well, maybe not hauting, but more like padding. :p

My best round last year was a 38 and that was hitting the ball very well. Today, everything was spot on, except for the 3 putts when I got nervous. I almost killed my partner who is kind of like my caddy as he's usually right. Par 3, 170 yards. I wanted to hit 6 but he begged me to hit a 5 since he hit his 6 about 10 yards short thanks to the wind. I argued but finally gave in. I hit my 5 right at the pin, 12 yards (yes, I walked it off) past the hole. Luckily, I hit my putt to about 4 feet and still made par. Had I bogied, I would have killed him. :D

That's because he wasn't trying to go after every woman around..... or was he?

Seriously, though... Glad you had a good game. Perhaps you'll keep a flop on that foot every game of stick-ball you play from now on?

If I were in the same state as you for my bowling league, I surely would've called it off. Either forfeit or make up if I could walk within a week :o
    Ludicrous gibs!

That kind of thing has happened to me a couple of times over the years. The fact that you couldn't over-swing and had to play an easy-on-the-body round makes a big difference.

i've been applying the same logic when I play in the rain. For some reason I score far better when its pouring. I was also thinking that since I'm more bundled up in a coat and have more clothes on that i'm swinging a bit easier and just trying to make solid contact..

Best rounds so far this year have been in down-pours, lol
