I found the PS3 as a CDP to be aweful. Went to Rotel CDP and it took my digital music a huge step up over the PS3.

What DAC are using with both units? Several have mentioned how awful the PS3 is for a cdp, but those that have said that, realize he is using it as a media server with a stand alone Musical Fidelity DAC.

I have no doubt the PS3 all by itself is awful.

The Squeezebox Touch appears to be a good option over the PS3 if the interconnects don't work. I'm going to try to do some more research since I'll probably end up upgrading too over the PS3.

If you are not using an external DAC............sound wise the SQB won't be any better. His issue is NOT the PS3. He is using an external DAC and the PS3 as a music streamer. How many times does this have to be mentioned before it sinks in?

I agree the SQB is awesome but for him to spend $265-$299 on one won't solve the current issue he is having.

p.s. I'm done here as people obviously don;t read all the posts and throw out redundant ideas w/o even understanding what the issue the OP is having

Calm down...maybe you need to pay more attention as it was obvious that I knew that he was streaming music with the PS3. I suggested that a different music streamer may sound better and that I would do more research since we both have the same setup. Somehow that irks you and you mistakenly group that as not reading the post and suggesting a cd player. It's great if you already know that it won't make a difference just say that, but everything else was unnecessary.

First of all sorry you took my post as being irrate, I'm not. Second, I never suggested a cdp. Thirdly, I love the SQB products I own one and will be getting a couple more soon. My point is, suggesting a SQB to tame the brightness is a very expensive proposition for an issue he never had before he bought a couple pieces of new gear. In the end when discussing a music streaming device the SBQ by itself vs. the PS3 by itself there will be little to no difference in sound quality all other things being equal. It should be a last resort and he's quite away from that at this point, IMO.

Spending $300 on another streamer won't solve his issue.

Understood. I should have made it more clear that he should try other things first like the interconnects, speaker placement, etc. Anyways I mentioned that I would do more research I actually would prefer that it doesn't make a difference, because I would rather use the PS3 too. I'll take the Squeezebox off the list.

The SQB has other advantages that certainly makes it worthwhile over the PS3, I just didn't want someone to go out and spend the money thinking it was going to be the ultimate "fix" for a bright presentation over the PS3 when used in the exact same manner.

I would choose the SQB everytime over the PS3 for features and interphase, etc. and user convenience, etc.
