What is newegg doing? Manufacturing M-70s in a shed behind their offices? Surely there can't be that many of those LEFT?

cnh,
I am wondering the same thing. I thought this model is discontinued.
Would be great if A9, or LSi15, LSi25 are on sale regularly like M70 -
Personally, if a sub goes on Sale, i'd be happy.Shawn

I just got a pair too from newegg
(coming on Monday
) , cant beat the price really, I was going to get TSi500 but the price was just too much of a temptation, lol, anyway what should I get as a pair for my rear surrounds? what's a good proven match-M30, M40?? My room is about 16x20 feet, thanks, Rob NJ. -
Welcome to Club Polk!!
You can run an all M-70 configuration if you have the room and the power? Otherwise..M-40s or M-50s (if you don't want to deal with stands will be fine).

Hehe, now you got me confused and thinking
-should I get the floorstanding M50's or put M40's on these http://www.amazon.com/SANUS-SYSTEMS-BF-31B-Speaker-Stands/dp/B00006JQ5O/ref=pd_sim_e_1 stands? -
No need to be confused...it's just a matter of preference...those speakers are pretty similar in performance.....What I do is have my surrounds ontop of 36" bookshelves on either side of the listening area--which works fine, so I don't need stands?
Whatever works best for you is what I would go with!
Good luck...an M-70 system is one of the best bangs for the buck for a HT system for a moderately sized room.

Bad news
, got the speakers today-well that's a good news, the bad news is one of them does not work, only tweeter works, no bass whatsoever. Swapped the speakers to make sure it was a speaker and not the amp-same thing-no bass from the speaker. So what's a better solution-return it to newegg for replacement or warranty thru Polk? -
Make sure ALL your jumper posts on the back are tightened all the way. When I first bought my M-70s one of the tweeters didn't work. It turned out to be that the jumper--the metal strips that connect the two speaker terminals, TOP to BOTTOM on each side were not making 'contact'. After I secured those the tweeter came alive. This may or may not be your problem. If the jumpers are too bent out of shape...just take some speaker wired and connect the posts positive top to positive bottom, negative top to negative bottom and see if that helps.

+1, I had a similar issue with my 70's tweeter at the Seattle Mini meet, turned out to be a case of loose nuts, lol. Hopefully you get iy figured out, those 70's are a steal at what they are going for. I love mine. As for your surrounds, like C said, it is all preference and budget. I have a set of TSi 500's as my surrouonds, but before them I had a set of Monitor 40's and they worked great. If you don't want to deal with the hassels of stands, get the 50's or even another set of 70's and call it a day. Welcome to Club Polk.

ok, I tightened the posts and nothing but then I kind of pressed heavy on the top and bottom buttons and the speaker came alive!!!!!!!!!

, thanks CNH-you saved me some headaches, thanks man

Enjoy,
Looks like we saved Polk a call to their Customer Service line. This problem is fairly common. Things expand and contract during shipping and storage.
Enjoy your new speakers. I still have mine and they're not going anywhere for a while!

Sweet deal man, sounds like one of the binding posts got bent somehow. Glad you got em fixed, now enjoy them. I love my 70's and like C said, they aren't going anywhere for a long time, lol.

I was going to order banana plugs for these babies. But when I looked into the connectors, it has plastic cap on top of the connector. If I remove the plastic cap, will it hold the banana plug?

I tried to buy a pair of 70s on newegg using the promo code you posted, but it gave me this error message: "Although you've entered a valid promo code EMCYTZV22, your order does not currently meet the code's usage criteria. Please double-check your order and try again." Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks

Yes, I had the same message when I tried to order the black ones, promo code worked for cherry so I got the cherry ones. I think this promo code is either only good for cherry ones or they dont have the black ones in stock?? -
Sup guys, I've been reading this forum a lot and found a lot of info about modding the speakers with better components-is there anything that can be done with Monitor 70's?? links? threads?
-
Anybody?
