Rental or Own?

I can't even remember when the movie was out in the big screen. Anyone?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Is this available on Blu-Ray WITHOUT the DVD/Digital Copy? That's all I see on Amazon. There have been a few movies I have seen that are just straight up Blu-Ray without the DVD/Digital Copy and they're less expensive.

I haven't seen a bluray-only version yet, but I have to agree with everyone else for the OWN factor. Great story, and it's been a LONG time since the plot "twist" at the end of a movie surprised me, but this one certainly did.

I blind-bought this one from Amazon along with a bunch of other stuff they had cheap this last week during their Blu-ray sale. Sadly, one of the other titles I ordered pushed the shipping back to next week. BLEH! Good to see that I probably made a good decision on buying this one though.

What makes this one an OWN item for repeat viewing? actions? PQ demo quality?

    Just curious.

Acting is great, but the SQ and PQ are really superb.

I rather enjoyed this one, though my fiancee slept through it. I would say own, if you are in the habit of watching things more than once. I enjoyed the story, as it wasn't quite as bland and rehashed as a lot of the stuff coming out right now. Despite that, I still could tell where it was going well before the end of the movie. It didn't detract from my enjoyment, only my surprise.

My opinion may be colored, though, because I absolutely love post-apocalyptic stuff.

Saw it today, streamed it through Amazon Movie on Demand. Definitely have the feel of Costner's The Postman minus the love story. I enjoyed it, a nice surprise ending and biblical.

I will never understand Amazon's shipping. I ordered this movie along with 8 others. All of them were listed as IN STOCK except for Moon, for which there was a wait. So what do they do? They send me ONE movie on its own but hold all the others until Moon comes back in stock. Thanks, Amazon! Why couldn't you just send ALL the ones you had in stock and send Moon by itself?

Amazon finally shipped mine. Strangely, my order that was placed on the 10th shipped at the same time as my order placed on the 17th... and all 9 of those titles will arrive the same day. Way to go, Amazon!

Kuntasensei, did you check your shipment preference profile?
Sometimes you need to receive certain items in your order sooner than others. That's why, every time you place an order via our order form, you can choose from one of these shipping preferences:

Group my items into as few shipments as possible
I want my items faster. Ship them as soon as they become available (at additional cost)

Amazon did mess up my order once in December, I ordered a BD player and Startrek BD on the same invoice, they sent the movie a day ahead of the player. I emailed them about it and they tried to intercept the shipment but it's too late. They did apologize and reimbursed 10% of the cost of the player for the inconvenience. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I have Prime membership since its inception.

Yeah, it was just Amazon being screwy. For some reason, they sent 2012 to me via UPS by itself... and held the remaining 6 titles, which they just sent USPS. This was all on the same order. No biggie though. Just means I'll have more to watch next week. :P

Finally got my shipment and watched this last night. I loved it! Some great fight scenes, a meaningful story, and the cinematography was outstanding. Good performances all the way around. Definitely not sorry I blind bought this!

Oh, and the gunshots were some of the nicest I've heard in a movie, though they still don't match up to the realistic sounds in Open Range.

And the twist at the end hit me from out of nowhere. It totally makes me want to watch the movie again!

Some fool spoiled the twist over on an AVS thread and it really pissed me off. It had been sitting in my netflix que with a release of 7/13. I decided not to wait and picked it up yesterday. I really enjoyed it, even being clued in from the beginning. I kept quiet and didn't spoil it for my wife, at least. Great soundtrack...PQ was pristine, though the washed out color choice was a part of the world, I'm tired of sepia filtered films. This wasn't quite full blown sepia, nearly B&W in some scenes...but give me some color folks, I feel like I'm in 1958. It was very well acted. Denzel can carry a bad movie and this one wasn't. The supporting characters were excellent too, Kunis, Stephenson, Flashdance lady and Oldman is always excellent. 4 out of 5 stars for me.

Really good sound, pretty good movie imo. I thought the very end was kind of silly. I may or may not watch it again, but I have definately bought worse movies before.
