Well don't put all your hope on Krell. Krell is a love it or hate it type of amp. Plus, changing so many things at once there is no way to tell where the synergy might be lacking (assuming you have synergy issues). IIRC, Dynaudio and Krell seem to mate well together for most.

    Good luck and enjoy.

I have read good things about dynaudio and krell. I plan on comparing the b&k with the krell amp section. I will definately keep the best sounding amp. But the krell's pre is also a important factor in what stays and goes. I will try both amps with both pre sections: one in the krell and in the elite. Also I will swap out a few ICs I have. Bens ICs and the Ultimate ICs I just bought. May the best sounding setup win!
I can not wait to see which upgrade makes the biggest difference. Could it be the Krell's amp section or pre, could it be the v-dac? Only time will tell!

The first thing I want to see is what kind of difference the dac makes with the pio elite. And then add the krell into the mix to see the difference from there.
Can not wait!!!!!!! Not very often do I want to get my wednesday morning golf session over with.. This is one of those times.

I think the DAC and pre will make the biggest difference. Just going on my very limited experience. But looking forward to seeing how everything turns out.

You taking a Krell pre-amp? If so, then I soften my earlier statement about Krell. And the way you are doing it is smarter. Get used to the dac a little bit in the current system and then swap the pre then add some cables.

The krell is a integrated model. KAV 300i.

Well just received the krell kav 300i. Got it cleaned up and hooked up in my system. I do not have the dac yet so I am running it just as a amp through the pio elite's processor.
Compared to the B&k ref 4420 it is more dynamic and has tighter bass. The imaging and soundstage sound to close to notice a difference. Its a touch quieter at same volume. Also it runs cool. Hardly any heat.
I can not wait to see what the krell's processor sounds like compared to the elite. I have the feeling it is a weak link in my system for 2ch. Musical Fidelity V-dac should be here tommorow.
    Stay tuned!

The cables in my system as of now are:
All Pangea AC-9 power cords besides my bpt c-9 connecting my bpt CPC.
    Bens ICs
Audioquest Type 4 speaker wire w/bananas
I have a MIT AVT2 connecting my center channel w/bananas

Im going to be using a Audioquest type 4 toslink from my ps3 to the v-dac, then the ultimate ICs I am waiting for from audiogon, from the v-dac to the krell. I will probably swap bens ICs with the Ultimate ICs to see what the difference is.

I just switched back to the B&k after a few hours of the krell... The b&k is 10 times warmer sounding, and 10 times more 3D. Now I see how people say that the krell is dry and cold sounding. It is with the pio as the processor and no dac. I can not wait to see what the dac does tommorow when it arrives. I will first try it with my old setup to see the difference then with the krell.
    Can not wait!

That's why I said in an earlier post Krell is a love it / hate it type amplifier. Isn't this hobby a blast! :p

Ben's I/C's in the few systems I've heard them in are sort of flat and lifeless too as in no bass and sort of "hot" on the high end.

    OK OK OK!
Ran the setup mic on the pio elite for sh*ts and grins with the krell in the mix.
Wow... Crystal Clear! More detailed. Brought it to life.

Received the V-dac today and hooked it up to the Krell, taking advantage of the Krell's pre, and all I can say is WOW!
It is a improvement in every way! I do not know if its the V-dac or Krell's pre making the biggest improvement, but it doesnt matter!!!
I no longer need the b&k now so it will be for sale.

That's great to hear. That's pretty much the reaction I got when I got my DAC, wasn't concerned about upgrading my speakers again after that.
