Nakamichi banana plugs

Finally got around to connecting these and wanted to give a little review for anyone that is looking to do/use the Nakamichi banana plugs.
First I went to Century Sound, my local stereo store and got me some nice 14AGW wire.
Got the banana plugs apart and ready for the wire.
Inserted the twisted wire and tightened the 2 screws. I tightened them alternately (like wheel lugs) so the wire would not move around. While I was tightening I ensured the wire stayed tucked into the plug.
Inside the plug it is cone shaped and the twisted wire sit in nicely. I took about 1/2 inch off each end of the wire and trimmed it up if it was not long enough. I got use to guessing the lenght after about my 3rd cable.
Next I screwed the jacket back on being careful not to tightening it too much but of course snug enough so it would not back off.
Finished product. Very easy mod to do and looks great.
The outer jackets cleared the 14 AGW wire fine. The product is sturdy and well made. The two set screws worked great and once tightened down did not move in the caseing or the wire. I will check for tightness in a week to see if they have loosened at all as I have read that some people have run into that issue.
Great looks, inexpensive, and served the purpose well.
Nothing special but thought I would share! Greg Fonger (gfong)

They look sharp.
Do they degrade the sound in any way? -

I did not notice any, but to be fair I upgraded my wire from 14 Gauge Chinese to 14 AWG wire and it improved the sound.
So I am attributing the better sound to the vast upgrade in wire. -

i have a couple dozen of these. they are convenient as a banana plug is...we all know that. i do notice the shell backs off regularly and without reason. are they worth 0.72 a piece ? absolutely! do they require maintenance when changing speakers? occasionally. good for the price thats for sure!

Found some of these for about a buck a piece a few months ago on eBay. Very nice plugs, but I also noticed the outer threaded sleeve comes loose very easily.

I would have to say that it would not fit 2 strands of 12 AGW in them. I do not think they would fit 2 strands of 14. The outer casing would not fit over the plug as the two screws would most likely be sticking out to far from the width of both cables being inserted.
Of course I have not tried it, but looking at it I do not think it is possible.
