SDA confusion

This has been an interesting day for me to say the least! First, I picked up a pair of SDA2 from strider.

Then my daughter calls me and said she bought me a pair of SDA-SRS2 for $100. So I went from no SDA to two pair in about 3 hours.

Ben was kind enough to include the compendium by Raife with the 2's. The 2's from Ben have a B/B interconnect. Reading the compendium, one section says if the serial numbers are above #14115, an AI-1 is usable. In another section, it states that a P/B is required or changes to the crossover is required. Am I reading this correctly?

I received word from McIntosh this morning that I cannot strap my amps due to them being balanced so I need the AI-1 interface.

Honestly, I'm not sure which direction to take. Suggestions?

    Sell the Mac amps..................:D:):p:D;).

SRS2's for $100, you should go to jail for stealing............:D.

Just build the Dreadnaught that Darqueknight references and you'll be in heaven. I'll pull my compendium out later after dinner and see if I can help decipher it a little better.

H9, please refer to pages 32 and 64.

My serial numbers are: left 15474 and the right: 16983. Those numbers seem quite far apart from what I am accustomed to, but I don't know a thing about these!

I've got the amp for the 2b's--no AI-1 needed with it.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

No kidding? Seriously, I didn't know that. They are not in 10/10 shape, maybe a 5-6. Looks like the tops held many a beer in their life!:D I should have them home by the weekend. My daughter wants them out of her house so her and the husband will deliver on Friday or Saturday.

Gordo I told ya before that some here believe the SRS 2s to be the best sounding overall SDA. I've never heard a pair but I really would like to get my ears on a set.

I have the SRS 2 pin/blade speakers and they are excellent but they are not better than a set of SRS 1.2's or 1.2tl's. I used to own a set of SRS 2 blade/blade speakers. They are 4 ohm speakers and like a lot of power. The more the better. Get the RDO 194 upgrade and you are good to go. At high volume levels with the proper gear, the bass will blow you away. Good luck with them. Enjoy.

I spoke with my daughter this morning. She and her husband hooked up the SDA's and he wants to keep them! They said they never heard anything like it!!

Fortunately for me, she does not want speakers that big in the house. Dodged a bullet there. Maybe I should give them the 2B's since I can't use them.

Gordon, sorry I never got back to you. Did you in fact get confirmation you can't use them because you won't be able to use the AI-1 with those particular ones?

H9, I got confirmation from our resident expert. It could be done, but with more effort than I can muster up and I don't want to Frankenstein them. My electronic skills are limited to plugging things in the wall! Building a Dreadnaught for the SRS2 will tax my abilities.
