That's fine....it depends on your shipping....Polk actually had some pairs for 649 a while back on their ebay site? I think they're back up to 699 now. But they carry a 2 year Polk warranty.

The question is, is this an 'authorized' Polk dealer...because you do want your warranty?

Yeah i didn't notice if they were authorized or not but i have seen these for sale used in this price neighborhood so i figured this was decent. Not for me though sadly as i am trying to find a good deal on some 15's

If your close to a Fry's they have Cherry LSI 9's for $598 new in store only. Warranty and if the promotion is still going, you get a pair of Atrium 5's for free. Put the Atrium's on the bay and your looking at LSI's for less than $500 in the end.

The cherry is discontinued at Fry's so not very many stores will still have them. They went on clearance a few months ago. However Fry's is a great place to get speakers when they are on the weekly ad or when they clearance them.

Too bad that's a great price. But Fry's where I'm from are pretty much non-existent so....not really an option. Though I am on the look out for some LSI bookshelves.

I've heard both the LSI-7s and LSI-9s several times. My last listening session was in Beijing about a week ago. LSI-7s, a GamuT CDP, and a HUGE (didn't catch the model number) GamuT integrated amp. I mean BIG as big as a High Quality 2 channel Power amp! Cabling unknown--but maybe some kind of Kimbers? CD Eagles (Hotel California..?). What can I say! I don't know why everyone wants to MOD these? Veiled highs...mid-bass peak. Where were THOSE? I didn't hear THAT! What I did here was unbelievably musical presentation, detail and non-fatiguing sound that I could listen to forever.

The more I hear people talk about these and others...specifically Mantis's discussion of Totems, etc. The more I realize there is a LOT of subjectivity involved here. If you like sound that resounds throughout your room 'everywhere' and detail that has a slight EDGE (not a bad edge--perhaps etched detail would be a better term). Then you might not like LSI bookshelves. But if you like a nice 'warm' musically detailed sound. The Vifa tweeter Kills with good amplification and the GamuT sounded 'pretty' good to me.

Just before this I demoed a pair of JBL LS60 floorstanders and the fairly well reviewed Onkyo A9555. The JBLs almost made my ears bleed! They are a HORN design that cost a lot more than LSI-7s. And this is NO reflection on the Onkyo integrated but more about the JBL horn....shrill highs....bloated but prodigious bass. Not a lot of imaging, etc.

The LSI is actually a very good bookshelf for 'many' of us. But for those of you who love more detail than you would actually 'hear' live in most instances, perhaps these are not for you. But to say that those other speakers trump them....well....I, for one, cannot, agree. And the LSIs also seem a lot more forgiving with most SS gear! That's a PLUS in my book.

I finally heard the LSI25's at Fry's, and I must say I was impressed. Incredible clarity in the high and midrange, and more than sufficient low-end for music. However, I would emphasize that I would still prefer a dedicated subwoofer if used for home theater. Mind you this demo was using an integrated receiver (can't remember the brand) with a blu-ray music demo disc. Yet, even with the lower power of the integrated, it sounded incredible. I can only imagine how good they would sound with a real dedicated amplifier.

Here's my view on horns. They're fine for PA usage in a large venue and the efficiency is helpful in that situation. However, I dislike the mixed horn/non-horn speaker systems for home usage. I think the problem lies in how efficient to the horned tweeters (and mids on some speakers) are. They are so much more efficient then the other non-horned drivers in the system that it creates an imbalance. If you turn the system up to the level you want for the non-horned drivers, the horned drivers are too loud. If you turn it where you want it for the horned drivers, the non-horned ones are too low. I suppose one could attenuate the horned drivers, but that would defeat the purpose of having a horned driver to begin with (efficiency).

Now, I've seen some very large systems that use horns for all the drivers. Those might actually be pleasant to listen to since you would be dealing with similar characteristics and efficiency in all the drivers. However, since I haven't heard any of these personally, I'm only guessing.

You are correct. I meant to type integrated amplifier rather than integrated receiver. Unfortunately, this forum provides a very short period of time in which to edit, so I cannot fix my error. As of now, the rest of my prior post stands. That is, unless someone finds another error...

I bought a set of lsi 15's about a year ago and love the sound,till i started working on my room conditioning.I find that with the side firing woofer it makes a mess of bass in the corners of the room.I then took my lsi 9's and am using them as the fronts and found that the sound is alot better and easier to tame the standing bass in the corners.I've tried bass traps with the 15's and it didn't help much.
Just curious to see if anyone else had any similar problems with side firing speakers.I am currently searching for a set of front firing only.

Sometimes if you switch the L & R LSI 15's so that the woofer is pointing in, might help for a bass loaded corner.
